Nigeria Professional Football League club Kano Pillars have confirmed the short-term signing of Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa.
The club announced on Tuesday night that the forward will be returning to Kano 12 years after leaving the club for Europe.
“Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has sensationally returned to Kano Pillars FC for the reminder of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season (NPFL),” Pillars stated on their official website on Tuesday night.
“Musa previously played for the Pride of Kano in 2009 where he ended the season as the top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League with 18 goals before moving to VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands.”
Musa has signed on as an Elite Player under a special arrangement with the League Management Company, Kano Pillars explained.
According to the terms of the contract, Musa can leave any time he gets an offer, presumably from a foreign club.
Musa has been unattached since leaving Saudi Arabian club Al Nasr in October.
The 28-year-old forward is a cult hero in Kano, where he is treated like a superhero.
Kano Pillars media officer Idris Malikawa said Kano State Governor Umar Ganduje will perform the official unveiling ceremony of Musa before the NPFL resumes from its mid-season break.
Musa has previously played in The Netherlands, Russia and England.
