According to reports, the Grammy-winning musician and well-known disc jockey DJ Tunez got into a fight at a private event in Lagos.

DJ Tunez, whose true name is Michael Babatunde Adeyinka, was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with Burna Boy and members of his crew just hours before to the announcement.

According to reports, a fight broke out in a nightclub when an argument got out of control.

It was reported that sources claimed that several people were involved in the altercation, and DJ Tunez was allegedly beaten throughout it.

DJs Express Support for Tunez
In response to the incident, the DJ body urged its members to unite and offered support for DJ Tunez in a statement posted on Instagram on Tuesday.

“The Nigerian DJ Association has issued a press statement to all disc jockeys to avoid playing the singer’s song, demonstrating their support for Tunez,” the statement said.

The association declared that until the matter was further investigated, DJs’ playlists would not use Burna Boy’s tracks.

Until until notice, none of our DJs’ playlists will feature Burna Boy’s music. The situation that happened last night involving one of our own, DJ Tunez, will be thoroughly investigated by our team, it said.

The association emphasized that all DJs must be treated with dignity and that the entertainment business needs to be fair, professional, and united.

“Please take note: At NigerianDJ, we prioritize all of our DJs, firmly believing that “ALL DJs are EQUAL,” and providing an open, individualized service to assist our DJs and clients in realizing their aspirations,” the message continued.

Members were also exhorted to uphold the principles of equality and respect and to resist prejudice.

“Please guarantee equality and freedom for all DJs across the country so they can thrive.” When half of us are being held back, none of us can succeed.

It continues, “The Nigerian DJ is fully against the discrimination of any of its #NDJ.”

However, Burna Boy and his management team have not yet provided an official statement about the claimed incident or the DJs’ decision as of the time this news was filed.

He made this revelation in response to a widely shared video from a recent interview in which senior music executive Obi Asika asserted that Burna Boy’s career was thwarted by several gatekeepers in the Nigerian music industry, but he managed to get past them and became well-known worldwide.

In a comment on a site that shared the video on Instagram, Burna Boy stated, “This is not even half of the story.” They broke me in every way they could. They’re still making every effort. Funny. However, all they did was start an insatiable fire that will burn them forever.

With the release of the smash song “Like To Party,” from his debut album “L.I.F.E (Leaving an Impact for Eternity),” Burna Boy gained global attention.

In the years that followed, his career took a nosedive and he was reduced to an underground artist.

However, the release of his breakthrough song, “Ye,” from the highly regarded album “Outside,” sent his career into overdrive on a global scale.

Nigerian music leaders and fans started buying from Burna Boy once more after his triumph abroad.

Over the past few years, he has been the most popular African touring performer.
