The Abia State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has expelled Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BoT, accusing him of anti-party activities.

His expulsion was announced by the Abia State PDP Chairman, Abraham Amah, on Tuesday in Umuahia, following the adoption of the report of a disciplinary committee set up by the party in the state to investigate Wabara’s alleged anti-party conduct.

According to the Abia State PDP chairman, the investigative committee thoroughly reviewed Wabara’s earlier suspension before deciding to expel the PDP BoT Chairman.

He explained that the expulsion was due to Wabara’s endorsement of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, for a second term in office, which the PDP considered an act of disloyalty to the party.

The party has, therefore, urged the PDP National body to nominate another person for the position of BoT Chairman.

As of the time of this report, Senator Wabara or his supporters had yet to issue any statement regarding his expulsion.

Their expulsion was contained in a statement signed by Alphonsus Onyeachonam Nwafor, the acting state chairman, and High Chief Charles-Solo Akor, the state publicity secretary.

The party said Agballa and other expelled members have consistently disobeyed court orders that prevented them from parading themselves as executive members of the party.

According to the statement: “The leadership of APC Enugu State Chapter do hereby officially expel Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Augustine Alumona, Jude Chinedu Aniogbo, Moses Emeka Eze, Sunday Ugwoke, Ugwu Christian Kanayo, Eze Chidiebere Johnson, Queen Charles, and Onyekachi T.
“They have been flagrantly disobeying the order of the High Court restraining them from arranging, organizing, and holding any meetings as leadership of APC State Executive Committee (SEC) Enugu State Chapter.”

The statement claimed that Agballa and those expelled engaged in several activities that undermined the APC in the state.

“This decision reflects our firm stance on accountability and ethical governance. The integrity of our Party is non-negotiable. We will not allow individuals who undermine our mission and principles to remain within our ranks,” it added.

A group of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, known as Frontiers for Change and Progress, has announced the expulsion of Abia State PDP chairman, Abraham Amah, for alleged impersonation.

The group has also dismissed the suspension of PDP Board of Trustees, BoT Chairman Adolphus Wabara, by the Abia State PDP chairman, describing it as a “big joke.”

Announcing Amah’s expulsion in Umuahia on Tuesday, the national coordinator of the group and former Commissioner of the Abia State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, ASOPADEC, Emeka Yellow Ikpegbu, said Amah lacks the constitutional powers to suspend Senator Wabara from his position.

Ikpegbu, who claimed that Abia PDP currently has no state executive contrary to Amah’s claims, said a valid court injunction had stopped the state PDP congress that produced Amah.

“We heard this afternoon that one Amah Abraham, parading as Abia PDP Chairman, claimed he had suspended the BoT chairman of our great party, His Excellency, Senator Adolphus Wabara. He even claimed he had removed him as the BoT Chairman of the PDP.

“But those of us who know Abraham Amah are not surprised. We know his antecedents. He claims to be PDP Chairman, but the truth remains that Abia PDP has no EXCO at the moment. There was a court injunction stopping the purported congress he claims produced him.”

Ikpegbu stated that only the National Working Committee has the power to suspend the BoT Chairman, adding that there must first be a petition from his ward, who would then invite him to appear. If he fails to do so, they would issue another invitation.

The group, which questioned why those engaging in anti-party activities in Abuja have not been suspended from the party , further stated that Wabara, as an elder statesman, committed no crime by expressing his personal opinion about the governance of Abia State.

Earlier on Tuesday, Abia State PDP chairman, Abraham Amah, announced the suspension of Senator Adolphus Wabara, citing alleged anti-party activities.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has held its national convention, ratifying key decisions including the expulsion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Buba Galadima, and the entire Kwankwassiya faction.

The chairman of the party, Dr Agbo Major, made the statement at a press conference yesterday in Abuja.

Dr Agbo Major who was elected as the new national chairman during the convention, reaffirmed the party’s compliance with a court ruling, directing INEC to recognise the party’s Board of Trustees led by Dr Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam.

He said that the party also confirmed all congresses held at various levels from ward to zones.

He further noted that at the convention, the purported new party logo of NNPP was rejected and reverted back to the old one.

Dr Agbo urged Kwankwaso loyalists destabilising the party to peacefully exit instead of causing chaos.

He said, “The party conducted a financial review to strengthen internal structures and expressed confidence that INEC would update its records, to reflect the leadership changes as directed by the court.

“As a party, we are not averse to having any form of understanding with any other political party, especially if it is in the interest of the Nigerian electorate.

“Alternatively, for now, we are not in any form of talks with any political party, that is why we have always been telling the media that whoever is talking to you as a leader, speaking on behalf of NNPP should be confirmed from the party’s secretariat if there is any such understanding at all.

“For now, we are not in touch with anybody, but when we get to that bridge, we will design how to proceed; all will be in the interest of Nigerians.

“Our party, the NNPP, remains united and focused as we prepare for 2027.”

The cold war between the Aregbesola-led Omoluabi caucus within the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the party reached its climax on Wednesday with the expulsion of the former Minister of Interior and ex-Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola over alleged anti-party activities.

A letter signed by the party chairman and secretary in Osun State, Hon.Tajudeen Lawal and Olabisi Kamoru, accused Aregbesola of breaching Article 21 of the party’s constitution, which outlines disciplinary measures for members.

Recall that Aregbesola gave a nod to the request of his loyalists to dump the All Progressives Congress APC at a meeting held in Ilesa on Sunday.

At the meeting presided over by Aregbesola, the Omoluabi Progressives announced its decision to leave the APC, citing the party’s declining popularity in the state.

Consequently, in a letter titled “Allegations of Anti-Party Activities – Conveyance of State Exco Decision to You.” Aregbesola was accused of breaching Article 21 of the party’s constitution, which outlines disciplinary measures for members.

The letter read in part: “At the end of the investigation, the State Executive Committee (SEC) considered the report of the Disciplinary Committee. Having carefully reviewed the findings and recommendations, the SEC approved your immediate expulsion from the APC.”

“The decision was predicated on clear evidence of your actions, which undermined the unity and integrity of the party. As a result, you are no longer a member of the APC and must refrain from holding yourself out as one or acting on behalf of the party in any capacity.”

“We write to formally bring to your attention the findings and resolution arising from the disciplinary process initiated concerning allegations of anti-party activities levelled against you by the Disciplinary Committee, where you were allowed to be heard by the principles of end of the investigation, the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the Disciplinary Committee.

“Having carefully considered the findings and recommendations of the Committee, SEC has resolved to accept the recommendation of your immediate expulsion from the All Progressives Congress, APC”.

“As a result, with the approval of your expulsion, you cease to be a member of APC. Consequently, you are not to hold yourself out as a member or act in any capacity on behalf of the party in any manner whatsoever.”

“While acknowledging your past contributions to the Party, we trust that you will comply with this decision and act according to the directives in this communication,” it added.

When filing this report, efforts to reach Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on the development proved abortive.

Aregbesola, who led Osun State for two terms, was accused of breaching Article 21 of the APC Constitution, which outlines disciplinary measures for members.

His expulsion was confirmed in an official letter from the party leadership.

The letter, titled “Allegations of Anti-Party Activities – Conveyance of State Exco Decision to You,” and signed jointly by Tajudeen Lawal, State Chairman, and Alao Olabisi Kamoru, Secretary, stated that the decision followed an investigation and approval by the State Executive Committee, SEC.

“At the end of the investigation, the SEC considered the report of the Disciplinary Committee. Having carefully reviewed the findings and recommendations, the SEC resolved to approve your immediate expulsion from the APC,” the letter read.

The APC alleged that Aregbesola’s actions had undermined the unity and integrity of the party, warning him against identifying as a member or acting on behalf of the party in any capacity.

Aregbesola had previously led a faction within the APC known as The Osun Progressives, which was later rebranded as the Omoluabi Caucus.

The faction had been in conflict with the state party leadership.

His expulsion followed a meeting of the Omoluabi Caucus on Sunday, during which the group, under his leadership, announced its decision to leave the APC.

At the meeting, Aregbesola reportedly told supporters that their departure was necessary due to the party’s declining influence in Osun State.

“We are leaving to build a stronger political movement,” he was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, APC officials in Osun State have maintained that the disciplinary action was necessary to restore order within the party.

“The party cannot tolerate disloyalty and divisive actions,” an unnamed official stated.
