There are many presidential candidates that have emerged and Nigerians are expecting more than three horse race, including Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Seyi Makinde of the Allied People Movement (APM), Kachikwu Dumebi of the ADC faction, Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Omoyele Sowore, among others.

Speaking on the recent development within the opposition parties, Fayose, in an interview with Channels Television, said if the opposition was united, Tinubu would have got a run for his money.

Fayose said that President Tinubu is going unopposed in the coming election

“Nobody is contesting against Tinubu,” he said. You may not like to hear this, but you Reality differs from noise on social media.

“If the opposition coalition had held together and they are to be in one party against Tinubu, I will say Tinubu will have a run for his money.

“Tinubu is like every Nigerian leader that I believe in but let me tell you, the moment that they have NDC, and they have ADC, initially they were saying Tinubu was pushing for a one-party state now there are so many parties, they have destroyed their journey by themselves.

“You remember when Atiku and Obi ran, it was a great three-way contest and Tinubu got his way, and I’m telling you again, Tinubu will get his way with ease.”

On Tuesday, it was reported that Fayose made the new claim on his 𝕏 account.

Fayose had already said that Governor Makinde was going to get rid of Ladoja.

Fayose said this in a post on 𝕏 on Sunday, saying that the supposed move would start with official questions being asked of the monarch.

Fayose says that the supposed plan would start with the government asking the traditional ruler why he didn’t go to a recent coronation ceremony in Ibadan.

Fayose said again on Tuesday that there is still a fight going on between the Governor of Oyo State and Oba Ladoja.

The former governor said that the Olubadan is being accused of trying to impeach Makinde. He also said that the government would soon release statements accusing the Olubadan of being biased.

He said that the new events are part of Governor Makinde’s plan to make it possible for the Olubadan to be questioned for being biased.

He said, “If you still don’t believe that Governor Seyi Makinde is trying to get rid of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja, just cross your fingers and wait to see what happens.”

“Remember that they said there was no rift between Olubadan and Makinde after I made it public.

“But now they are saying that the Olubadan is trying to get Governor Makinde impeached. They are also making statements that say the Olubadan is biased.

“These are things that Makinde is doing to set the stage for the Olubadan to be asked about being partisan.”

Fayose’s latest statement comes just after Gbenga Oyekola, the Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, denied reports that he was involved in a plan by some lawmakers to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.

In the meantime, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Olubadan of Ibadanland Rashidi Ladoja have both said that there is no plan to remove the monarch from his position.

According to reports, the council called the claim misleading and a risky attempt to make traditional institutions in the state political.

Ajeniyi Ajewole, the President-General of the CCII, told the council’s position in a statement released in Ibadan on Sunday by its Publicity Secretary, Kola Olomide.

Ajewole said that Fayose’s comments were not true and could cause unnecessary stress in Ibadanland.

Fayose had already claimed in a post on his 𝕏 account that Governor Makinde was going to remove the king.

He said, “I heard from a reliable source that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is planning to get rid of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.”

“The plan is to start this week, with the government sending a letter to the Olubadan asking why he wasn’t at the failed coronation of High Chiefs in Ibadanland two weeks ago and other accusations.”

The CCII said in response that the claim was not credible and should be ignored.

“Ibadanland would not put up with careless political speech that tries to upset its peace from the outside.” Ajewole said, “The claim was not credible and should not be taken seriously by the public.”

The council made it clear that things related to the Olubadan stool follow a long-standing traditional process and cannot be changed by political speculation.

Ajewole said, “Things that have to do with the Olubadan stool follow a set process that can’t be changed by political speculation.”

He told the former governor not to say things that could confuse people or make them not trust each other.

Ajewole went on to say, “Fayose should not make reckless and unverified statements that make things worse in Ibadan and the state as a whole.” We tell him to stop talking and take his divisive politics somewhere else so that Ibadan doesn’t get into any more trouble.

CCII: Makinde Will Not Hurt Olubadan
Ajewole also said that Fayose’s involvement was unnecessary because the former governor had nothing to do with the traditional or political structure of Ibadanland.

He said, “Our own Governor Makinde is a true son of Ibadanland who would never do anything to hurt the Olubadan institution.”

“Fayose is not in the same class or mold as him; he is willing to do anything to get ahead in politics.”

He went on to say that bringing the respected Olubadan institution into partisan politics was disrespectful and not okay.

At the same time, Adeola Oloko, a media aide to the Olubadan, also denied Fayose’s claim, saying that the governor and the monarch did not disagree.

“There is no bad blood between the governor and the Olubadan that would make such moves necessary.” “I don’t see what the problem is between them,” he said.

Dotun Oyelade, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, said that the government had not thought about or talked about any plans to remove the traditional ruler either.

The CCII told political leaders all over the country to be careful and not say anything that could threaten public peace. They also said that the people of Ibadan are still committed to protecting their traditional institutions.

Despite being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, Fayose stated that supporting President Bola Tinubu does not constitute anti-party action.

Noting that political differences are a typical aspect of democracy, he underlined that national interest should take precedence over party allegiance.

At the PDP’s national convention on Sunday in Abuja, he gave a speech to Channels Television.

“You are an Ekiti man before you become a political party card bearer; Nigeria is for all of us.” The current governor has the support of all previous governors, he declared.

To bolster his claims, he also provided instances from global politics.

“Have they evicted Obama and the former president because they are not endorsing the Democrats or Trump? He said, “No, democracy will have those differences on national issues.”

Fayose went on to say that competence, not party allegiance, should be the basis for support.

In response to the results of the recent Federal Capital Territory area council elections, Fayose made the comments in a post that was posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won most of the chairmanship posts in the council elections.

But according to opposition leaders, the exercise was tainted by voter intimidation, violence, and vote buying.

In response to the news, Fayose voiced his disquiet about upcoming elections and criticized the voting process.

“Electoral irregularities and malfeasance abound at INEC. I find it amusing that any Nigerian would be fooled by yesterday’s Abuja local government election,” he tweeted.

The billionaire went on to say that the FCT election’s result might be similar to those of upcoming national surveys.

He said, “The results of yesterday’s Abuja local government election will not really differ much from the results of the upcoming presidential election.”

When Nigerians are unhappy with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, he advised them to turn to spiritual guidance instead of depending only on the democratic process.

“Any Nigerian who is dissatisfied with the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led APC government should use this Lenten season to seek God’s intervention for Nigeria and beg God to divinely remove APC because, as it stands today, the votes of the Nigerian electorate are incapable of terminating or dislodging them from office in 2027,” Fayose wrote.

In spite of his criticism, Fayose concluded his speech with the words, “It’s well with Nigeria and Nigerians.” Thank you, IJN.

Speaking on Arise Television, Fayose made a comparison to Lagos State’s political system. He maintained that President Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos, holds the position of political leader and that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu did not.

According to Fayose, official position is not the only factor that determines political leadership in governments with established power blocs.

Regarding the Rivers issue, Fayose insisted that President Tinubu would not give up Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike for Governor Fubara.

He proposed that claims of party hierarchy at the ward or state level would not determine the outcome of the power struggle in Rivers, but rather national political reality.

Rivers APC Responds
In response, Emeka Beke, the Rivers State APC Chairman, rejected Fayose’s comments as ignorant and unfounded in an interview with Vanguard.

Fayose cannot speak on matters pertaining to the state and its leadership because he is not a native of the state. As the governor of Rivers State, Fubara continues to be the APC’s 001 in the state, according to Beke.

“Fayose is not from Rivers State and he is not a member of the APC,” he continued. He doesn’t understand what we’re saying.

In response, Chizy Enyi, the Coordinator of the Initiative for Transparent Strategy and Good Leadership, charged that Fayose was speaking in order to defend the interests of Wike, his supporter.

He advised Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti, to avoid becoming involved in Rivers State politics and instead focus on preserving his friendship with Wike.

“With all intents and purposes, Ayo Fayose cannot be correct,” he declared. As the governor of Rivers State, Fubara is the head of the state in all respects as well as the head of the political party to which he belongs.

“Fayose is unable to visit Rivers State and advise us on what to do and what not to do. He was the state’s leader when he was governor, but now that he is no longer in office, someone else is.

“He won’t be the leader if he isn’t the president, just like President Tinubu is in Nigeria. Thus, Fayose is merely considering the logical notion that he is speaking A and acting B. Ironically, Godfatherism is ineffective in Rivers State.

That hasn’t been used either. Wike cannot, then, be the originator of Godfatherism. You might play a crucial role in someone’s advancement. No one can be elected president or governor by himself. It needs to be a team effort. Because the election that brought or will bring the individual is a process rather than an event. Additionally, people take part in those procedures because they are processes.

“I advise him to focus on how Rivers State and Ekiti State will develop, rather than on who is or is not the leader. Knowing that we are all a part of Rivers State, I’m telling Fayose to keep up his friendship with Wike while letting peace reign there.

Fayose said it was funny that the governor did not inform the people of Oyo State of the N30 billion he now admitted to have received and the N20 billion balance, until he blew the whistle on the N50 billion intervention fund.
In a statement on Thursday, by his Spokesperson, Femi Philips, the former governor said “since Governor Makinde has now said that he kept the N30 billion he admitted to have received in a bank since 2024, Oyo State Government should return the money to the Federal Government so it can be used for the people for which the money was meant.

“After all, the Federal Government has mechanisms to reach victims of the explosion since their Governor has chosen to play politics with their welfare.”
Fayose also insisted that “N30 billion in a bank for 18 months would have generated at least, N4.5 billion at 10 percent interest.

“Therefore, Governor Makinde must return not less than N34.5 billion to the Federal Government.”
Fayose, who said public office demands transparency and accountability, maintained that he had to make the intervention fund public so as to expose the hypocrisy of the Oyo State Governor.
“If he hadn’t go on national television to disclose what happened in a meeting with the President, and concealed the fact that he requested for N50 billion intervention fund for the explosion victims from the president, and the request was granted, there wouldn’t have been any reason to talk.

“But you can’t tell the public what favours you about a meeting and keep the ones that should favour the other parties. As a Yoruba man, we will not allow you to destroy the President’s name and image because of inordinate Presidential ambition.”

Otunba Emmanuel Ajisafe Fayose popularly called DOME, has vowed to unseat the governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji in the 2026 gubernatorial election, saying the governor has performed below the pass mark.

The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spoke at Ansar-u-deen Central Mosque, Odo otu, Ado Ekiti, on Friday.

The governorship aspirant who said he was at the mosque in solidarity with the Muslims, presented food stuffs and cash gifts to them.

“I came to felicitate with my Muslim brothers and sisters during this Ramadan fast and to give them gift. This gift would serve as a relief to many families here today and I promise not to be far away from them,” Fayose stated.

The aspirant who said governance is about prioritizing the basic needs and welfare of the masses, criticised Oyebanji for his ‘cosmetics’ achievements.

He said, “I have something better than what you are currently getting, Ekiti residents deserve more than what they are getting. This APC government in Ekiti and Nigeria has not done well, they fail to provide basic needs of the masses; No job opportunities, majority of our youths are riding okada to make ends meet, no social amenities and people are hungry; an hungry man is an angry man, there is no food. To feed once a day is hard, everything is expensive.

“APC government is not doing well at all, if they can’t govern well, they should handover the government.:The masses are suffering, there are no social amenities such as electricity, road network, no job, no adequate security.

“A responsible government has to put food on the table of the masses and provide them with the basic needs of life. These are what we are coming to give our people, I want Ekiti people to support me.

“In our time, we will do more than this government; I have many programmes that would better the lives of Ekiti residents. We will create massive employment and empowerment. We will establish factories, mechanized farming and several life changing programmes.”

While calling on Ekiti residents to support his aspiration, Fayose opined that he understands what Ekiti people are facing, urging them to exercise patience and persevere.

He said, “I know what you are going through at this moment, there is hunger in the land, everything is expensive. APC governments are not doing well at all, the masses are suffering, we shall put smiles on your faces and joy in your heart.”

The Chief imam who appreciated the visit and prayed for Fayose, added that Muslims are rightly positioned in Governor Oyebanji’s administration compared to the previous government.

A frontline Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, has expressed his resolve to contest the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State.

In a statement made available to reporters by his media office in Ado Ekiti, Fayose said his resolve to contest is borne out of his desire to rework Ekiti State to the path of growth and development.

“I am in the race to dislodge the Oyebanji-led government, and eventually, if I win, I will run an inclusive government that would steer Ekiti in the right direction,” Otunba Fayose wrote in the statement.

According to Otunba Fayose, the need for more emphasis and clarification regarding his desire to run resulted from the recent meeting between a former governor of the state, Mr Ayodele Fayose, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos.

At the well-publicised meeting, the former governor, who coincidentally is the elder brother to Otunba Fayose, told President Tinubu that he would be supporting the incumbent to return, which party members across Ekiti State considered as an anti-party activity.

Reacting to the development, Otunba Fayose said, “I read about the meeting in the newspapers like any other person, and I wish to state that the meeting has nothing to do with my aspiration.

“The meeting will not impact my aspiration because the former governor, my elder brother, is only exercising his democratic rights of freedom of choice. His choice and preferences will not and cannot negatively impact my bid as we are separate entities pursuing different goals.”

Otunba Fayose called on his supporters in the state to remain steadfast and resolute in their quest for positive change. He said in 2026, the PDP would return to power and begin rebuilding the state, describing the Oyebanji administration as a total disaster.

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has expressed his support for the reelection of Biodun Oyebanji as the governor of the state come 2026.

Fayose made this statement on Wednesday during the Commissioning of Ikeja GRA Network of Roads in the Lagos State capital.

Fayose, who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and stays in Lagos, applauded the All Progressives Congress, APC, administration in Lagos for elevating the state capital to the same status as the highbrow Ikoyi area.

The ex-Ekiti governor also said, though a member of the PDP, he would support Oyebanji of the APC, for reelection in 2026.

“This place is now our own Ikoyi…You and your deputy have turned GRA to Ikoyi GRA,”

“I am one Nigerian who will not say what I don’t mean even if they will kill me. I will say it. I am not a member of APC, let me put that on record again. I am not a member of APC and I will never be a member but I will not shy away from the fact that what is good is good.

“When the news of your nomination came about six years ago, (there were) so many reservations but you have proved the bookmakers wrong, including myself. All the bookmakers, you have proved us wrong that it is not the colour of the pack but what is right inside that thing. You are a different breed of politician.

“You brought everybody together like my governor in Ekiti, Oyebanji, brought everybody together. I always tell people who care to listen, I am a PDP member but I will support Oyebanji in the next election. It is not about politics, it is who Oyebanji is,” Fayose said.

According to report in June 2022, Oyebanji defeated PDP’s Bisi Kolawole and Olusegun Oni of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, to succeed Kayode Fayemi as Ekiti State governor.

Oyebanji was later sworn in October of the same year.
