He expressed his immense joy regarding the team’s performance, noting that it has given both the government and the people something to celebrate.

While reminding the athletes and coaches to avoid complacency, he emphasised the importance of early preparation to ensure the state maintains its number one position at the games.

Additionally, Franka Okonma, Director of Public Relations at the Delta State Sports Commission, confirmed that Team Delta qualified for the Gateway Games by securing qualifying spots in 12 out of 16 sports across both male and female categories.

“At the South-South zonal elimination for team sports in Benin City, Edo State, Team Delta defied the odds and secured tickets in 12 out of the 16 sports for both male and female categories.

“They include: football (male & female); handball (male & female); basketball (male & female); volleyball (male); abula (female & mixed doubles); hockey (male & female); and cricket (male),” Okonma stated.
As the 22nd National Sports Festival, the “Gateway Games,” approaches in Ogun State, Team Delta is prepared to make a significant impact once again.

Dedicated to improving healthcare standards and supporting the well-being of military personnel across Africa, ViaDerma not only participated but also served as one of the event sponsors, marking a significant step in its commitment to supporting military personnel throughout the continent.

Christopher Otiko, CEO of ViaDerma, expressed his enthusiasm about the company’s involvement. “Being part of the African Military Games is a great honour and an excellent platform for us to demonstrate the effectiveness of Tetracyte, our flagship wound-healing drug,” said Otiko.
Tetracyte is widely used for treating wounds and infections among African soldiers.

“All branches of the Nigerian military have shown keen interest in using Tetracyte once all necessary approvals are in place,” Otiko added.

The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the African Military Games, Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis, expressed appreciation to ViaDerma for supporting the games.
