They say that doing so is not allowed and could cause problems.

Cornelius Ojelabi, the state chairman, said in a statement on April 19, 2026, that the party leadership had heard reports of some local government chairmen publicly naming certain people as “consensus candidates” for elected positions.

He said that these actions go against the party’s rules of fairness, internal democracy, and due process.

The party says that there are no official rules, schedules, or instructions for how to run primaries in Lagos.

Because of this, any attempt to support or promote candidates at this point is seen as too early and misleading.

The APC said that these kinds of actions could make things more tense, make people more suspicious, and make party members more divided at a time when everyone needs to be on the same page.

It also said that any official who keeps doing what it called “unauthorized and destabilizing acts” would face disciplinary action.

The leaders of the party also told members that all qualified candidates would have a fair and equal chance, without fear of being bullied or influenced inappropriately.

It said again that it would uphold fairness, openness, and trustworthy internal democratic processes.

Party officials who were supposed to oversee the primaries were told to stay neutral so that the party would stay honest, united, and trustworthy.

Seye Oladejo, the party’s spokesperson, asked the public to ignore reports claiming that Lagos delegates encountered logistical difficulties as a result of the non-release of mobilization monies in a statement issued on Saturday.

All accredited delegates from Lagos were brought to the conference in a well-planned and coordinated manner, with measures made to guarantee their comfort during the trip, Oladejo stressed.

Delegates were accommodated appropriately upon arrival, refuting the rumors that were circulating.

Additionally, the spokesperson highlighted that the Lagos State Government does not finance party activities, pointing out that the APC independently oversees its logistics and operations through its own institutions.

Additionally, he urged the public to trust reputable sources and proceed with caution when interacting with unverified claims.

The Lagos APC reiterated its dedication to maintaining party unity and declared that it would continue to support state and federal governance projects.

Seye Oladejo, the state spokesperson for the APC, stated that the party has demonstrated that structure, innovation, and order are not just catchphrases but rather our ethos, as evidenced by the overwhelming success of the internet membership registration process and the smooth running of its congresses.

Oladejo signed a statement that read, “We build systems, while others trade in confusion and press statements.” We fortify institutions while others fight over factions. We solidify progress while others produce propaganda.

“Our Congresses were held throughout Lagos State’s wards and local governments in a calm, open, and strictly constitutional manner.

“There was a lot of participation, and the procedure was well-organized. The result was evident: a cohesive, forward-thinking party prepared for the challenges that lay ahead.

“The caliber of individuals elected to the Party’s State Executive speaks volumes, even beyond the Congresses’ excellent operations.

“The new leadership represents a unique and strategic combination of youth and experience, regeneration and continuity, and intentional gender balancing. It is a team made up of both new energy and institutional memory, which is intended to not only maintain but also accelerate progress.

It’s time for opposition parties to get off their high horses and enroll in the elementary school of politics, which teaches unity of purpose, discipline, coherence, and organization.

Making noise is not what politics is all about. It’s not agitation on social media. It is structure rather than an ongoing internal problem. It is leadership and coordination.

In a statement headed “The results of the by-elections as a referendum on Tinubu Presidency” issued on Sunday, Lagos APC spokesperson Mogaji Seye Oladejo stated that people are growing more confident in the president’s leadership and the party’s policy stance.

According to the party, the results validate support for ongoing federal and state reforms and the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Oladejo claimed that the votes cast by the electorate demonstrated their support for “audacious institutional strengthening, infrastructure development, and economic changes.”

The statement read: “The All Progressives Congress, or APC, Lagos State Chapter would like to sincerely thank the good citizens of Rivers and Kano States, the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, and all Nigerians for their tremendous support of our great Party in the recently held by-elections.”All of the affected seats’ by-election outcomes constitute a clear and unmistakable vote on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and the progressive ideals that still guide our nation’s administration.”The electorate’s faith in the Renewed Hope Agenda and the revolutionary laws being passed at the federal and state levels is further demonstrated by our candidates’ resounding victories.Voters have used the ballot to express their opinions during a period when opposition and critics have tried to sway the nation’s direction. Nigerians pay attention when they see robust institutional development, economic changes, infrastructure expansion, and bold leadership, according to these studies. They also show an understanding that nation-building requires courage, tenacity, and perseverance.

In actuality, the results of these elections represent the final straw for an opposition that has largely remained uninspired and undeserving of careful consideration by smart and informed people.

Rather of offering workable answers, the opposition has resorted to bluster, sensationalism, and obstruction. The public has now made a democratic and decisive decision.

Furthermore, these elections’ conditions have once again shown that social media’s dominance as a forum for political activism may not be as strong as it first appears. The opposition’s amplified voice on digital media did not lead to real electoral penetration or public acceptability when it counted most at the polls. In the end, democracy is decided by voters, not by internet trends. Manufactured indignation, internet theatrics, or daydreaming cannot topple a well-founded and performance-driven ruling party.

The ruling APC may have an easy time winning the upcoming 2027 national elections given the caliber of its performance and the implicit confidence that the Nigerian people have in it.

It is not a coincidence that these by-elections have acquired momentum; rather, it is evidence of the confidence that bold reforms and determined leadership have fostered. The efforts made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the elections are commendable. We also commend the security services for their professionalism, vigilance, and commitment to maintaining peace and order throughout the election process. People were able to carry out their civic responsibilities in a safe environment thanks to their activities. We commend the dedication, restraint, and grassroots participation of our campaign teams, volunteers, and party supporters who made this exceptional outcome possible.

We continue to be committed as a Party to promoting democracy, encouraging unity within the Party, and ensuring that all citizens enjoy the advantages of democracy. In addition to being political victories, the by-election outcomes signify a renewed dedication to working more for the public good.

Citing a recent independent statistical analysis that it claims refutes the narrative, it disputed assertions that the ruling party was exclusively to blame for purported irregularities in Nigeria’s 2023 general elections.

The study, which was done as part of a Data Science master’s thesis at Pan-Atlantic University, examined data from over 123,000 voting places nationally and concluded that electoral anomalies were not exclusive to one political party, according to Seye Oladejo, the state’s APC spokesperson.

According to the party, the investigation revealed that regions seen as Labour Party strongholds, especially those in the South-East, had the highest number of statistically significant abnormalities.

While “Lagos State recorded an anomaly rate of 2.3 percent, higher figures were reported in other states, including Anambra (24.9 percent), Enugu (16.7 percent), and Imo (10.9 percent),” the report stated.

The APC added that a disproportionate number of “perfect scores” in Labour Party strongholds—vote distributions it deemed statistically suspicious—were seen in the analysis.

According to Oladejo, these results refute allegations that the federal government or the ruling party rigged the 2023 election.

According to the analysis, electoral fraud in 2023 followed “opportunity rather than ideology,” he added, adding that several parties accused of rigging may have profited from unlawful acts themselves.

The party accepted the report’s finding that the 2023 election was neither wholly fraudulent nor altogether free of irregularities, but contended that malpractice had taken on more subtle forms, necessitating closer examination before further elections.

The Lagos APC warned against attempts to sway public opinion through disinformation or post-election narratives and declared that it will not permit the opposition to rig future elections.

Additionally, it stated support for electoral changes, including as the prosecution of electoral offenders regardless of party affiliation, real-time results transmission, independent audits of election data, and enhanced technical capabilities for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The party reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system prior to, during, and following next elections.
