Mohammed was said to have spoken at the Bauchi State Government House during the affirmation of candidates of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) for key elective positions in the state.

The event witnessed the governor reaffirm as the APM senatorial candidate for Bauchi South Senatorial District while the state Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu emerged as the party’s governorship candidate.

The Commission also confirmed the candidature of the Commissioner for Water Resources, Nuhu Zaki as candidate for Bauchi Central Senatorial District, and Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau as candidate for Bauchi North Senatorial District.

Addressing party supporters after the exercise Mohammed said the 2027 elections should be based on issues, performance and the will of the people and not intimidation or electoral manipulation.

The governor said his camp would not underrate any opposition candidate, adding that the campaign would be on the focus of going back to the people with the achievements of his administration.

He urged the Federal Government, Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to be neutral and create a level playing field for all candidates and political parties.

“We will not ask anybody to rig for us, but we will not allow anybody to rig against us,” Mohammed said. If we win we will accept it and if we lose in a free and fair contest we will also accept it. That is democracy.

The governor explained that the decision to adopt the APM platform was borne out of the prevailing political realities and the unresolved differences within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He said the APM was a party of the grass root with strong acceptance among the people, especially the rural dwellers.

His decision to run for Senate, he said, was strategic and aimed at pursuing the developmental agenda of his administration beyond his tenure as governor.

Mohammed also commended the security agencies for their efforts at ensuring peace in Bauchi State and other parts of the country.

He commended the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Nigerian Army for what he described as their contributions to enhanced security.

APM governorship flag bearer, Yakubu Adamu, spoke after his affirmation and thanked party leaders and supporters for what he called a transparent consensus process.

Adamu said that if elected as the governor in 2027, he would build on the achievement of the Mohammed administration.

His government would focus on economic growth, education, health care, rural development, youth empowerment and infrastructure, he said.

The governorship aspirant also commended Mohammed for giving, what he called, purposeful leadership to the state over the years, saying the foundation already laid by the administration would be consolidated for the benefit of the people.

He made the comments on Friday during an interview on Arise TV, where he also accused the ruling party of being out of touch with the realities facing Nigerians, especially the poor.

He said the Kwankwasiyya ideology was against such practices.

“The APC represents thuggery in Kano State. They represent most of so many things that are right in harm’s way to the masses, to people that are downtrodden, which our ideology seeks to protest,” he said.

He also levelled his criticism at the national level.

The policies of the APC-led federal government are not properly planned or considered for the well-being of the citizens, he added.

“We can see even on the national level, the policies rolled out by APC, the commander-in-chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, does not have an inch of feeling as to what happens when he rolls out policies,” he said.

He further alleged that the government brings in policies without proper assessment of how it will affect the Nigerians.

“They have never had a chance to do what’s called policy risk assessment,” he said.

He accused the party of behaving as if it owns Nigeria and forcing citizens to accept its decisions.

“These are the people that believe they own Nigeria, whatever they throw out, you must accept it,” he said.

He said that the Kwankwasiyya Movement feels it cannot work with the APC in any condition.

The spokesperson said Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has his own baggages, which led him to the APC, but that there will be a time for more revelations on political decisions.

“We have found home in our relationship with Peter Obi… the years in between have helped us to understand ourselves,” he said.

The comments follow the accusation of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso working for President Bola Tinubu by the Kano State Director of Media, Sanusi Bature.

The governor made the allegation on Thursday while speaking on Channels T. elevision’s Sunrise Daily, where he also denied any link to banditry or terrorism in the country.
Mohammed described the accusations against him as a calculated attempt to destroy his integrity as a leading opposition figure, insisting that Bauchi remains one of the most secure states in the North-East under his administration.

“I am a sitting governor, and my state is among the most secure in the North-East, if not northern Nigeria. Yet, I am being associated with banditry for political reasons,” he said.
The governor alleged that powerful forces were behind the campaign against him, specifically naming Wike as a key actor.

“Somebody said he is going to put fire in my state. That person is the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike. A rising opposition leader being accused of terrorism is very painful. He is behind my problems. My informant in the EFCC told me…” Mohammed stated.
He said such allegations were part of a strategy to silence opposition voices, adding that “when you want to destroy a dog, you give it a bad name.”
Mohammed disclosed that he had written to the Attorney General of the Federation and copied relevant security agencies, seeking redress and protection.

“I am prepared to escalate this matter to the international community. This is victimisation, and I am asking for protection of my fundamental human rights,” he said.
The Bauchi governor also described Wike as a destabilising force within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that the FCT minister was not a genuine member of the opposition party.
“He is an undertaker in our party. You cannot be in two places at the same time. It is against the rule of nature,” Mohammed said.

He further alleged that there was pressure on him to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that his refusal had attracted intimidation and harassment.
Mohammed warned President Bola Tinubu to be cautious of individuals around him who, he said, were undermining democracy through the misuse of state institutions.

Earlier, Mohammed accused the Federal Government of using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to harass him and officials of his administration.
Recall the EFCC recently filed charges against the Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, and others over alleged terrorism financing involving $9.7 million, allegations the governor has dismissed as politically motivated.

Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has called on residents of the state and Nigerians at large to embrace unity, patience and sustained support as the country ushers in the 2026 New Year.
He warned that Bauchi state can no longer be used as safe haven for criminals and bandits. In a New Year message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor expressed gratitude to God for seeing Bauchi State and the nation through the challenges of 2025, describing the transition into 2026 as an act of divine grace.

Governor Mohammed noted that despite prevailing economic, political and social difficulties, the people of Bauchi State remained resilient, steadfast and prayerful.
He commended residents for their patience and perseverance amid economic hardship, assuring them that his administration would continue to provide palliative support while working towards long-term economic solutions.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to fully implementing the outcomes of the recently held Bauchi State Investment and Economic Summit, describing it as a key strategy to accelerate economic growth and social development.
He further assured residents that as his government approaches the end of its second and final tenure, it remains committed to delivering critical infrastructural and social projects across the state.
Governor Mohammed also emphasized consultation, stakeholder engagement and community participation as core principles of his administration, reaffirming the right of citizens to hold leaders accountable and calling for collective responsibility and mutual care.

On security, the governor warned that Bauchi State would not serve as a safe haven for criminal elements, pledging continued support for security agencies, urging residents to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.
As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to intensify, he appealed to political parties, aspirants and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and in line with the Electoral Act, warning that the government would apply the law against any actions capable of disrupting public peace.

He claimed that Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed provided the ex-speaker a lifeline when he was stranded after failing to secure the House of Representatives ticket under the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2019.

He expressed disappointment that Dogara had now turned against his benefactor.

“It is ironic that a man who was politically stranded, had to be rehabilitated by Bala Mohammed, yet today, he turns around to malign his benefactor,” Akuyam said.

Akuyam described the ongoing rift between Bala Mohammed and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as a contest between institutional governance and personal loyalty.

“Bala Mohammed’s ‘crime’ is insisting on strong institutions over strong individuals. If that is an offense, then let history judge,” he stated.

Taking a swipe at Dogara’s political maneuvering, Akuyam accused him of aligning with politicians only when financial incentives were involved.

“For a man like Dogara, who was fortunate to rise politically at a young age, it is disappointing to see him squander his potential on self-conceit and inconsistency,” he said.

In a statement titled “Bala Vs. Wike: Because I Am Involved”, Akuyam further accused Dogara of spreading “wild inconsistencies and falsehoods” in his claims that Wike manipulated the PDP primaries in favor of Governor Bala Mohammed.

He described Dogara’s intervention as a desperate attempt to distort history and align himself with political benefactors.

According to report Dogara had alleged that Wike influenced the appointment of Chief Dan Orbih to oversee Bauchi’s 2018 PDP primaries, ensuring Bala Mohammed’s victory.

However, Akuyam refuted this claim, stating that while Wike played a role as a stakeholder, Bala Mohammed had already built significant political capital within the PDP.

“To paint Bala Mohammed as a helpless politician who needed Wike’s deliverance is nothing short of a figment of Dogara’s imagination,” Akuyam stated.

“If he has witnesses, let him bring them forward.” Akuyam attacked Dogara, accusing him of inflating his political relevance while failing to secure his own All Progressive Congress party nomination in 2019.

Recall that the FCT Minister and the Bauchi governor have been at loggerheads over the PDP leadership crisis.

Mohammed had accused Wike of betraying the PDP by aligning with the APC, while demanding his resignation.

But Wike fired back, calling Mohammed a hypocrite.

The disagreement between the duo is also tied to the Rivers State crisis.

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, has been berated following his recent criticism of Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, over the latter’s critique of the country’s tax reform policy of President Bola Tinubu.

The attack on Governor Mohammed, labelled undiplomatic and opportunistic, has been condemned by the Chief of Staff to the governor of Bauchi State, Dr. Aminu Hassan Gamawa.

In a statement issued on behalf of the governor, Dr. Gamawa accused Tuggar of a desperate attempt to gain favour from his political benefactors while ignoring his own failings in office. The Chief of Staff pointed out that rather than addressing the pressing issues within his foreign ministry portfolio, Tuggar had resorted to attacking a governor whose agricultural policies have significantly transformed Bauchi State into an economic hub. It stressed that under Mohammed’s leadership, Bauchi has seen the creation of thousands of jobs, particularly through initiatives like the Kaura Economic Empowerment Programme (KEEP). This initiative, the statement said, empowers local farmers and youth with skills in fish farming, animal husbandry, and cash crop production.

“Ironically, Tuggar, a man from Bauchi State, remains blissfully ignorant of these realities. If he had spent more time in his home state instead of gallivanting across foreign capitals, he would have seen firsthand the transformation Bala Mohammed has brought to Bauchi. His detachment from the grassroots and his own local government, which President Bola Tinubu failed to win in the last election, underscores his irrelevance to the people he claims to represent,” the statement added.

According to the statement, Tuggar’s performance as Minister of Foreign Affairs has been allegedly marred by a series of diplomatic blunders, resulting in a significant decline in Nigeria’s international standing.

“Under Tuggar’s mismanagement, ECOWAS, a once united and robust sub-regional body, is now in disarray. His poor advice to President Tinubu on the crises in the Sahel has led to the withdrawal of key member states like Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. This is a historic failure, unprecedented in the history of Nigeria’s leadership in West Africa,” the statement noted.

The statement further claimed that Tuggar has overseen the deterioration of Nigeria’s relationships with its Sahelian neighbours, worsening security challenges along the 1,600-kilometre border. Furthermore, the Joint Multinational Anti-Terrorism Taskforce, once effective, has now been rendered obsolete due to Tuggar’s incompetence.

“Nigeria has suffered severe diplomatic setbacks under Tuggar, including the embarrassing visa ban and subsequent equivocations by the United Arab Emirates. His inability to resolve these issues highlights his failure as a foreign minister. Tuggar has dragged Nigeria into the orbit of French hegemony in Africa, abandoning the country’s historically Afrocentric foreign policy. This shift has alienated nations fighting against French neocolonial dominance and has positioned Nigeria as a willing accomplice to France’s imperial ambitions,” the statement read.

The Chief of Staff emphasised that Tuggar’s allegations against Governor Mohammed regarding land use in Bauchi State were nothing more than a smear campaign, pointing out that the governor’s Tiamin Rice Project, a large-scale agricultural initiative, has provided direct and indirect jobs to thousands of Bauchi indigenes.

“Furthermore, Tuggar’s insinuations about increased federal allocations to Bauchi reveal his ignorance of the economic realities faced by states across Nigeria. Inflation, the new minimum wage, and the federal government’s poorly executed macroeconomic policies have strained state finances nationwide. Bala Mohammed’s prudent use of resources has earned him national accolades, including the ‘Rural Road Infrastructure Governor of the Year 2022’ and the ‘Urban Renewal Governor of the Year 2024’. Tuggar’s failure to acknowledge these achievements is both dishonest and petty,” the statement added.

Counselling Tuggar to seek ways of redeeming his lacklustre performance as Minister, the statement noted that constant criticism of Governor Mohammed in the hope of running for Bauchi State governor in 2027 will ultimately fail.

“Tuggar’s tenure as Foreign Affairs Minister has been defined by inertia, incompetence, and irrelevance. President Tinubu’s frequent avoidance of Tuggar during foreign trips speaks volumes about the minister’s redundancy. Tuggar’s inability to address pressing diplomatic issues, coupled with his fixation on attacking Bala Mohammed, highlights his lack of focus and effectiveness.

“Tuggar’s attacks on Bala Mohammed are clearly motivated by his ambition to contest the Bauchi governorship in 2027. However, his strategy of maligning the Governor will backfire. The people of Bauchi have witnessed Bala Mohammed’s transformative leadership and will not be swayed by the baseless rhetoric of an absentee politician,” the statement concluded.

Reiterating that Governor Mohammed’s principled stance on national issues, including his criticism of the tax reform Bills, reflected his commitment to the welfare of Nigerians, the statement urged Tuggar to remove the log from his own eye before attempting to point out the speck in Governor Mohammed’s.
