Onochie, in a post on 𝕏 on Thursday, said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost its strength under Tinubu’s leadership.

The former presidential assistant also argued that Tinubu has no clear road to victory in the 2027 presidential race.

Writing on her 𝕏 account, Onochie stated the APC was no longer the party it used to be.

She wrote, “Whatever @officialABAT touches. He destroys. APC is gone.

“Tinubu has no pathway to 2027. He is gone. Tinubu is Gone. God bless Nigeria. Lauretta Onochie @Laurestar.”

Her comment followed an Artificial Intelligence-generated film showing the late Buhari interrogating Tinubu on how he had fared with the APC.

The video, which spread online, appears to have prompted emotions among fans and critics of the President.

It was claimed that Onochie’s declaration comes as political alignments and criticisms continue to build pace ahead of the 2027 national elections.

The APC, which produced Tinubu as President in 2023, is set to pursue another term in office in 2027.

However, opposition groups and political actors have continued to strengthen talks and coalition-building activities targeted at defeating the ruling party in the next presidential election.

Although the APC presently controls 31 states through elected governors and defectors, critics of the administration have argued that economic hardship, insecurity and internal party rivalries may hurt the party’s chances in 2027.

Onochie, who served as a media advisor under Buhari, has in recent times adopted positions critical of Tinubu and the APC.

Her latest criticism adds to escalating public debates among politicians, former government officials and party supporters as the next election cycle progressively takes shape.

As of the time of reporting this story, the APC and the Presidency have not to provide an official reaction to Onochie’s claim.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, May 20, said some persons harmed by his administration’s reforms in the foreign currency and oil subsidy sectors were wishing him dead.

Tinubu said the decision to terminate multiple exchange rates and withdraw petrol subsidies had angered powerful interests that profited from the old system.

The President addressed in Lagos at the presentation of the book, “The NADECO Story,” written by Chief Ayo Opadokun.

The ceremony also featured the distribution of awards to those who played crucial roles in Nigeria’s democracy movement under the National democracy Coalition between 1994 and 1998.

Tinubu was represented at the event by a former Ogun State governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba.

Delivering Tinubu’s message, Osoba said the President was aware of alleged measures by various interests to disrupt peace in the country because of his economic reforms.

According to him, individuals who gained from foreign exchange round-tripping and gas subsidy payments were displeased with the administration’s policy.

“As for security, he says, I should let you know that he is aware that there is a deliberate attempt to disrupt the peace of this country by people whom he knew he had offended by cancelling multiple exchange rates and by cancelling oil subsidies,” Osoba stated.

“He said those cabals who are doing round-tripping will wish him dead any time, but he is determined that if that is the only thing he would do, he would make sure he rearranges the economy. No matter what, he is determined to face it. So that’s the word from Mr. President.”

Tinubu had, upon taking of office in 2023, declared the abolition of petrol subsidies and thereafter introduced foreign exchange reforms, including the unification of exchange rates.

The measures have continued to spark discussion across the country, with the government arguing that they were required to stabilise the economy, while many Nigerians have complained about growing living costs.

Osoba said Tinubu praised the contributions of NADECO members to the return of democracy in Nigeria and assured them that their roles in the battle would not be forgotten.

Vanguard reports that Farotimi revealed this in an interview on State Affairs, a podcast hosted by Edmund Obilo.

Speaking on the worsening security bedevilling the country, Farotimi faulted the government, stressing that the impunity that has extended to the Fulanis has made it impossible to deal decisively with the situation.

“It is Buhari, the All Progressives Congress, APC and Tinubu’s government that allowed Fulani terrorists to take over Nigeria.”

“The Nigerian state is so useless that at a time, a Fulani terrorist killed an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

“The terrorist removed the uniform of the slain senior police officer, donned it and sat with the government at a peace negotiation on the table.

“It is the impunity that has spread to the Fulanis that has made it impossible to deal decisively with the madness that has overtaken us.”

Meanwhile, Farotimi had recently raised concerns over how Godswill Akpabio became the Senate President, saying the process that brought him to the position is questionable.

Farotimi, who spoke in an interview on News Central, said Akpabio’s rise to the apex of the Senate reveals deeper problems within Nigeria’s political and electoral system.

He said the system allows people who he believes do not meet the required standards to hold important public offices.

In an interview with political content creator Edmund Obilo, Mohammed stated that they couldn’t agree on the running mate.

Recall that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which included President Tinubu and his team, the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), and the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), which included Buhari and his allies, became the current All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lai Mohammed claims that there was conflict between them since the late Buhari had already selected Pastor Tunde Bakare to be his running mate.

“Now, we in ACN made a strong case that, look, we have control over six states.” Only one state is under your authority, CPC. We are even prepared to compete under the CPC and subject ourselves to your platform.

“Use your colors and everything, but you are refusing to give us the one thing we are requesting? We shall be accused by our people of selling them away.

We parted ways over that issue, and naturally, we both suffered terrible defeats in 2011. By 2012, Tinubu and Buhari realized how much they needed each other, according to Lai Mohammed.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, George expressed displeasure over what he called a secretive attempt by Atiku to forge a political coalition without first consulting PDP leadership. He labelled the meeting with Buhari as inappropriate and questioned its relevance to PDP’s future.

“Why meet Buhari? Is he a PDP member? You don’t take major decisions like forming a mega party without discussing it with the party,” George stated. “PDP is not anyone’s private company. You don’t just flip-flop because of your personal ambition.”

Atiku, who has been pushing for a mega opposition coalition to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027, was accompanied during the visit by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, and other northern political figures.

Reacting to the move, George suggested that the coalition appears to be one-sided, dominated by northern interests, and could further fragment the country’s political landscape. “Is this an attempt to divide Nigeria along regional lines? Where are the other voices from the South?” he asked.

George urged PDP members nationwide to remain united and resist the temptation to join what he termed “a coalition driven by personal ambition.” He emphasized that party members must work together to reposition the PDP for 2027 instead of fueling internal divisions.

As you may remember, Atiku paid Buhari a visit at his home in Kaduna State, accompanied by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal.
However, Atiku made it clear that the main purpose of the visit was to celebrate Sallah and not to discuss the proposed political party coalition that would strengthen the opposition.
The visit was denounced in an exclusive interview with George, who insisted that Atiku had no business with Buhari.

After gaining advantages from the PDP, he chastised Atiku for contemplating a merger. Since the PDP is the only party in the nation with a formal structure, he urged other parties to join.

“They went to see Baba Buhari,” George added. Does Buhari have a PDP membership? Aside from sharing an area, what connection do Atiku, his team, and Buhari have?

“What’s the core? Our party was beneficial to you. You are discussing Mega. You haven’t told your party about the mega.

The Oak Tree is the only political party in this nation; in Yoruba land, it is known as the Iroko Tree. You’re telling people that you ought to throw a huge party. Let them join us.

“In this country, we are the only political party. Anyone with structures is challenged by me.

“National, state, and zonal structures are what I mean by structure.” In other words, you have a national treasurer, national secretary, national woman leader, and a youth leader.

“Who is the APC’s national secretary, national treasurer, and national organizing secretary? All of these structures.

And visit every state if you can find even one person—nobody. It belongs to one person. Atiku’s actions are self-aggrandizement. What do you want from Baba Buhari? Does he belong to our party?
