She was a prominent member of the party for 14 years.
Ada Ogbu’s resignation, conveyed in a dated letter of December 30, 2025, was addressed to the APC Caretaker Ward Chairman of Nara Ward I, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The development has immediately ignited political speculation, given its timing and the growing wave of high-profile realignments linked to Peter Obi’s movement into the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
In the letter, Princess Adaku Ogbu Aguocha announced her decision to withdraw from the APC after 14 years of active membership, stating that her choice was guided by “evolving realities” and a reassessment of how best to serve her people. She described the decision as difficult but deliberate, stressing that it followed extensive consultations with family members, friends, and political associates.

Widely known across Enugu political circles as Ada Ogbu, Princess Adaku Ogbu Aguocha has been one of the most visible faces of the APC in the state, particularly at a time when the party struggled for electoral relevance in the South-East.
She joined the APC in its formative years and rose through the ranks as a grassroots mobiliser, party organiser, and consistent advocate for the party’s ideology in Enugu State.
She is one of the first citizens of Enugu State to join APC.

Ada Ogbu was also given the party’s platform to contest for the office of Senator for Enugu East Senatorial District, a contest that placed her among the most recognisable APC standard-bearers in the zone.
In her resignation letter, she expressed gratitude for the opportunities, exposure, and leadership lessons gained during her time in the party, noting that they shaped her understanding of public service and democratic responsibility.
Despite exiting the APC, she maintained a conciliatory tone, thanking party leaders, members, and supporters, and assuring that her departure should not be interpreted as hostility toward individuals she worked with over the years.

Ada Ogbu’s resignation comes on the same day Peter Obi is expected to publicly pick up his ADC membership card in Enugu State, her home state, in a move widely seen as a major step toward consolidating an opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Over the past weeks, several politicians across party lines have exited their former platforms and aligned with the ADC, a trend increasingly described by analysts as part of the expanding “Peter Obi wave.”
While Princess Adaku Ogbu Aguocha did not, in her letter, announce her next political destination, observers say her exit from the APC at this moment places her among figures being closely watched as potential entrants into the emerging ADC-led opposition bloc.
Enugu State, long considered a stronghold of opposition sentiment to the APC, is expected to play a symbolic role in Obi’s ADC entry.
Ada Ogbu’s move, therefore, adds another layer to the unfolding political recalibration in the South-East.
As of press time, Princess Adaku Ogbu Aguocha has not made a public declaration of joining any new political party.
However, with Peter Obi’s ADC card pick-up scheduled for today in Enugu, expectations remain high that further announcements could follow in the coming days.
For now, her departure from the APC stands as one of the most significant political developments in Enugu State as 2025 draws to a close, reinforcing the sense that Nigeria’s opposition landscape is entering a decisive phase of realignment.

Lucky Johnson, who was previously a member of the PDP, left the party this week to join the Labour Party, citing internal crises within PDP and his admiration for Governor Alex Otti’s performance as his reasons.

However, in reaction to the development, Okechukwu Okorie, who also serves as the chairman of PDP in Isuikwuato, resigned from his role as Johnson’s Chief of Staff.

In his resignation letter, Okorie stated: “I submit my resignation from the position of your Chief of Staff, effective today, 25th March 2025, due to political differences.

“I have come to the conclusion that the political direction you have taken does not align with my personal values and principles as a committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

“As a result, it has become clear that stepping down from my role as your Chief of Staff is the most appropriate course of action.”

Mojisola Meranda has resigned as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

“This is a notice of resignation as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly,” Meranda read her resignation letter out at the plenary Monday on afternoon,” she said at a special plenary on Monday.

Meranda assumed office on January 13, 2025, following the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.

Despite her brief tenure, lawmakers lauded her ability to lead effectively and foster a positive atmosphere in the Assembly.

<amp-video-iframe src="https://360playvid.info/slidepleer/videoIframe.html?fn=s1184s" width="16" height="9" layout="responsive" dock="#pv-dock-slot" style=" overflow: visible !important;"> </amp-video-iframe>

Meranda resigned alongside all principal officers appointed with her.

Meranda resigned after a meeting with high-ranking All Progressives Congress members to address the leadership crisis.

The crisis began on January 13, 2025, when Mudashiru Obasa was removed as Speaker by two-thirds of the 40-member house due to alleged misconduct.

Meranda, Obasa’s deputy, became the first female Speaker in the state.

However, Obasa rejected his removal, citing improper procedure and militarisation of the assembly complex.

On February 27, 2025, Obasa arrived at the Assembly Complex, escorted by armed, uniformed security operatives.

He insisted he remained the Speaker, rejecting his removal.

His colleagues, however, reaffirmed their loyalty to Meranda.

Adoji’s resignation from the opposition party in Kogi State was contained in a letter dated 27th January 2025 which was addressed to the PDP Chairman, in Okula Aloma ward, Suleiman Unekwu Bala.

The resignation letter reads in part, ” I must wholeheartedly express deep-seated gratitude for the cooperation and camaraderie I enjoyed.over the years which culminated in my becoming the Kogi-East Senatorial candidate for the 2023 election.

“It has been a great privilege to be a major contributor to the deepening of democracy in a manner that considerately leveraged grassroots politics, encouraged collaboration, and fostered myriad partnerships under the auspices of the PDP.

“For the record, I have seen and heard exchanges around how somethings should have been done better, what should have been done, when they should have been done, how they should have been done, and where they should have been done.

“Let me restate, for the avoidance of doubt, that my discretion towards justice and shared leadership oriented around our collective communion will not abate, regardless.

“It is my informed submission that looking at prevailing tendencies and how they have now found a perfect medium in factionalised and sectionalized alliances that are reinforced by the ‘echo chambers’ around the identified provocateurs, a thrust forward can only be guaranteed by a far-reaching decision.

” Subsequently, in the face of the absorbency from the aforesaid, inter alia, I have reached the inevitable decision to resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately.

“While wishing you good success, it is my sincere hope and prayer that our rapport, regard and reverence continue to grow, even beyond the momentary”.

Former director general of All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Awareness Council in Yobe State, Hon Sa’idu Hassan Jakusko, has dumped the APC citing poor treatment by the APC-led administration in the state.

Jakusko, who worked for the Yobe state Governor Hon Mai Mala Buni, in Jakusko local government area of the state, disclosed his exit from the party after submitting a letter of resignation, addressed to the APC ward chairman in the local government area.

“I write to formally announce my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yobe State, effective immediately.”

He said his decision to leave the party was not made lightly, adding, “I have always valued my association with the APC and its mission to drive progress and development. However, I feel compelled to take this step due to some reasons.”

He added that after keeping faith with the party in 2019, some recent development in the party in his local government area and Yobe State conflicted with his core principles and values.

“I was an integral part of the campaign team that worked tirelessly, investing our time, resources, and energy to secure the victory of Hon. Mai Mala Buni as Governor of Yobe State.”

He expressed disappointment that, “Despite our relentless efforts and the success we achieved, I have not received any recognition or reward from the government over the past four years. Nevertheless, I continued to show patience and loyalty to the party.

“However, during the 2023 General elections, I faced numerous challenges. Despite these difficulties, I successfully mobilised and facilitated the defection of an estimated 600 individuals from various political parties, including PDP, APGA, AC, and the Labour Party, into the APC.”

He said, all these decampees were presented to the party leadership, including the APC chairman and other top officials. However, despite these significant contributions, no tangible support or recognition was extended to address ongoing challenges within his constituency.

“Meanwhile, I deeply appreciate the opportunities I have had to contribute to the growth and success of the party. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the leadership and my fellow members of the APC in Yobe State for their collaboration and support over the years.

“While I step away from the APC, my commitment to the development and progress of our community and the principles of democracy remains steadfast.

“Please accept my best wishes for the party’s continued success as you work toward achieving the aspirations of its members,” he wrote.
