The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) put on a workshop for high-ranking government officials, and the Governor spoke at it. This was part of the ongoing Nigeria Public Relations Week, Croc City 2026, which is taking place in Kaduna.

The workshop was called “From Policy to Public Trust: Strategic Communication for Vision Alignment and Governance Delivery for Renewed Hope.” It was attended by senior government officials, including commissioners, special advisers, counselors, and permanent secretaries.

Governor Uba Sani said at the event, “Kaduna is not where it was.” Kaduna is a much better place now, and what’s even more exciting is that it’s on the move and ready to do even bigger and better things.

He said that his government knew from the start that small changes wouldn’t get the State to where it wanted to be. Instead, he said, what was needed was a disciplined reorientation of how the government works.

He said that his government promised that the vision must have a measurable effect, or else it would stay an idea.

“We made a performance framework based on Key Performance Indicators official, so that every ministry, department, and agency knows what they need to do and is responsible for the results,” he said.

The Governor said that when he took office in 2023, he also organized his agenda around seven strategic pillars, and the results have been good in the last two and a half years.

He said that the seven pillars are safety and security, building up infrastructure, making institutions stronger, trade and investment, agriculture, developing human capital, and getting people involved.

Governor Uba Sani said that these pillars are not separate priorities but “interconnected levers, designed to function as a coherent system; each reinforcing the other, each contributing to a broader objective: the transformation of Kaduna State into a secure, prosperous, and inclusive society.”

He said that security is the basis for all progress and that “without it, farmers can’t farm their land, businesses can’t invest, and communities can’t grow.”

The Governor said that he worked closely with the Office of the National Security Adviser and the military high command to set up new military bases in high-risk areas like Giwa, Birnin Gwari, and Southern Kaduna.

“We improved mobility and response by giving security agencies more than 150 operational vehicles and 500 motorcycles.” He said, “We put together a Joint Task Force in our cities that has made a big difference in the number of street crimes and banditry.”

Governor Uba Sani also said that his government was focused on structural outcomes.

“We have taken back more than 20,000 hectares of farmland that was once hard to get to, which has allowed farmers to get back to work, especially in places like Birnin Gwari, Giwa, and Kargarko.

He went on to say, “We have helped over 1,000 displaced people move back to their homes and are still giving targeted help to more than 117,000 internally displaced people, with a focus on women and children.”

The Governor also said that his government has set up the first forensic lab in Northern Nigeria, which has made it easier to investigate crimes.

The Kaduna Incident Report Center (KAD-IR) is now open 24 hours a day for real-time emergency response. He said, “There are early warning systems in place to find and calm tensions before they get worse.”

He says that as part of its non-kinetic strategy, Kaduna State has institutionalized peace dialogues, set up local peace councils, and put in place a framework for rehabilitation and reintegration that puts learning new skills ahead of money.

He said that even though the result isn’t perfect, “security is getting better, confidence is coming back, and economic activity is slowly growing in areas that were once thought to be off-limits.” We now call all of this the Kaduna Peace Model.

Governor Uba Sani also said that his government has made big improvements in education by making planned investments to make it easier for more people to get an education and make it better.

“We built 736 new classrooms and fixed up more than 1,200 old ones. He said, “We have hired 10,000 teachers and trained more than 33,000 education workers in modern teaching methods and digital skills.”

The Governor said that “one of our most important accomplishments has been the decrease in the number of children who are not in school: from about 550,000 to 187,720 in two years.”

He went on to say, “This progress shows that there has been not only investment, but also coordination, data-driven interventions, and long-term involvement with communities.”

Governor Uba Sani also said that his government is making sure that education meets the needs of a modern economy.

“The creation of the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development is a big step toward closing the gap between education and work.

“We’re getting our young people ready for jobs, productivity, and innovation by training them in ICT, mechatronics, renewable energy, and other high-demand fields,” he said.

The Governor also said that in the last two and a half years, he has made it easier for people to get medical care, made health facilities better, and made systems stronger.

“We have improved 255 Primary Healthcare Centers to Level-2 facilities and set up 23 Centers of Excellence, one in each Local Government Area.” “We have built a 300-bed specialist hospital to provide advanced medical care in the state, which cuts down on the need for expensive medical travel,” he said.

He said that his government has started about 150 road projects that will cover more than 1,300 kilometers across all 23 Local Government Areas.

He said that the projects “are part of a deliberate strategy to connect rural production centers to urban markets, cut down on travel time, and boost business.”

The Governor said that he has raised the agricultural budget from ₦1.48 billion in 2023 to over ₦74 billion this year. He has also given farmers more than 900 trucks of fertilizer and signed up more than 100,000 smallholders for crop insurance to protect them from risk.

He went on to say, “Through the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones in Chikun and Kubau, we are moving from subsistence farming to value-added agribusiness; creating jobs, increasing incomes, and enhancing export potential.”

He says that Kaduna State has made it possible for the private sector to grow.

He said that his government has made 23 investments worth more than $743 million between 2023 and 2025 in important areas like agriculture, manufacturing, energy, and more.

We have also set up a pipeline of investments worth about $2.77 billion. “This brings our total investment portfolio to over $3.5 billion, which is a clear sign that confidence in Kaduna is growing,” he said.

The Governor also said that his government has made a lot of progress in social protection and inclusion by opening more than 2.5 million new bank accounts for people who don’t have enough money to open one.

He said that his government has given more than ₦18 billion in targeted help to families, farmers, and small businesses.

He went on to say, “Our free CNG mass transit program has already helped more than 1.4 million passengers by lowering the cost of transportation and making it easier for families.”

Governor Uba Sani said, “Through Project 255, we are guaranteeing ₦100 million in public investment to each ward, making sure that development reaches every community, both urban and rural.”

The governor made the allegation on Thursday while speaking on Channels T. elevision’s Sunrise Daily, where he also denied any link to banditry or terrorism in the country.
Mohammed described the accusations against him as a calculated attempt to destroy his integrity as a leading opposition figure, insisting that Bauchi remains one of the most secure states in the North-East under his administration.

“I am a sitting governor, and my state is among the most secure in the North-East, if not northern Nigeria. Yet, I am being associated with banditry for political reasons,” he said.
The governor alleged that powerful forces were behind the campaign against him, specifically naming Wike as a key actor.

“Somebody said he is going to put fire in my state. That person is the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike. A rising opposition leader being accused of terrorism is very painful. He is behind my problems. My informant in the EFCC told me…” Mohammed stated.
He said such allegations were part of a strategy to silence opposition voices, adding that “when you want to destroy a dog, you give it a bad name.”
Mohammed disclosed that he had written to the Attorney General of the Federation and copied relevant security agencies, seeking redress and protection.

“I am prepared to escalate this matter to the international community. This is victimisation, and I am asking for protection of my fundamental human rights,” he said.
The Bauchi governor also described Wike as a destabilising force within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that the FCT minister was not a genuine member of the opposition party.
“He is an undertaker in our party. You cannot be in two places at the same time. It is against the rule of nature,” Mohammed said.

He further alleged that there was pressure on him to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that his refusal had attracted intimidation and harassment.
Mohammed warned President Bola Tinubu to be cautious of individuals around him who, he said, were undermining democracy through the misuse of state institutions.

Earlier, Mohammed accused the Federal Government of using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to harass him and officials of his administration.
Recall the EFCC recently filed charges against the Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, and others over alleged terrorism financing involving $9.7 million, allegations the governor has dismissed as politically motivated.

Prof. Sylvester Monye, state chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee in Delta State, stated this in a heartfelt New Year message to the people of the state at home and in the diaspora, stressing that a strong and functional opposition is indispensable to Nigeria’s democracy.
According to him, he is confident that adherence to democratic principles will safeguard the integrity and independence of all political parties, including the PDP.

While extending greetings to party leaders and faithful members across the state who, he said, heroically stood firm and made untold sacrifices to keep the party thriving, Monye noted that the beginning of a new year is always an appropriate moment for reflection and renewed commitment to service, guided by the principles of peace, equity and collective responsibility.
He said it was therefore crucial for all political actors to adhere strictly to due process, internal democracy and the highest standards of political conduct, warning that decisions taken now would have far-reaching consequences for Nigeria’s democratic system.

According to him, with certain matters involving the PDP currently before the courts, the party wishes to underscore the Supreme Court’s consistent position that the internal affairs of a political party are primarily to be managed by the party itself, without undue judicial interference.
Monye said that despite differences in political affiliation, Deltans are united by a shared duty to uphold the stability, unity and orderly development of the state.Their mandate, he said, is to ensure that the PDP remains cohesive, responsive and ready to play its constitutional role in Delta State, a traditional PDP stronghold.
He urged all leaders and members of the PDP in the state to conduct themselves with discipline, restraint and respect for party rules and democratic norms, noting that the credibility of the party’s internal processes would ultimately determine its standing before the electorate.

“To the good people of Delta State, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to protecting your interests and aspirations. In the days ahead, the Caretaker Committee will continue broad-based consultations and engagement with stakeholders across the state, ensuring that political discourse remains focused on good governance, development, and the rule of law.
“The year 2026 is particularly significant, as it precedes the 2027 general elections and will see the conduct of party primaries.
“In Anyanwu v. PDP and the recent SDP v. INEC decision, the court affirmed that courts should exercise restraint and respect the autonomy of political parties.

“In line with the the legal principle of “stare decisis”, we trust that the judiciary will continue to uphold these established precedents, thereby safeguarding party independence, legal certainty, and the stability of democratic processes, while respecting ongoing proceedings.
“We, members, of the great PDP in Delta State, we remain committed to constitutionalism, constructive engagement, and principled leadership. We are equally dedicated to reorganizing and strengthening the party, particularly in the wake of recent defections, and to prepare for the orderly conduct of congresses that will usher in substantive executive officers,” Monye said.

The appointment came amid the rejection of Dungurawa after his sack at the ward level and was subsequently endorsed by the NNPP State Executive Committee at an emergency meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Kano.
The decision was announced by Barrister Yusuf Mukhtar, the party’s Assistant Legal Adviser, who said Abiya’s appointment was in accordance with the provisions of the NNPP constitution.

Party sources disclosed that the development followed the submission of a formal resolution by the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Executive Committee, recommending the sack and expulsion of Dungurawa.
Earlier, the Dawakin Tofa Executive Committee, under the leadership of Hon. Abdullahi Ali Uban Iya Dawanau, had forwarded the resolution from the Gargari Ward Executive Committee to the state leadership of the party.

The resolution was adopted at the second executive meeting of the Gargari Ward, held two weeks after the general election, where Dungurawa was accused of anti-party activities.
After reviewing the report, the State Executive Committee endorsed the decision and approved Abiya’s emergence as Acting State Chairman.
Party officials said the move was aimed at restoring internal discipline, strengthening party cohesion, and repositioning the NNPP for future political engagements in Kano State.

In his response, the Acting Chairman of the NNPP in Kano State, Hon. Abdullahi Zubairu Imam Abiya, said the party would ensure justice for all members and remain loyal to the national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Osun State has said it was not informed of another primary reportedly conducted by a faction of the Accord Party in the state.

A faction of the Accord Party in Osun on Sunday reportedly held a primary election that produced Bamigbola Clement as its candidate for the August 8, 2026, governorship poll.

The exercise, held in Osogbo, the state capital, began with the accreditation of delegates.

A large contingent of armed police operatives was also observed around the venue.

Bamigbola, the only aspirant presented to delegates, confirmed his emergence.

“It is true. We had our primary, and I emerged the consensus candidate,”

However, INEC’s Public Relations Officer in the state, Musa Olurode, said the commission was unaware of the parallel exercise.

“We have monitored the only Accord Party primary a few days ago. The report has been submitted. INEC is not aware of any other party’s primary,” Olurode said.

According to the report reports that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, last Wednesday, emerged as the Accord Party candidate for next year’s poll.

Adeleke was the only aspirant in that primary, also held in Osogbo.

Announcing the result, Abdulazeez Salaudeen, Secretary of the electoral committee that conducted the primary, said Adeleke polled 145 votes out of 150 delegates drawn from the state’s 30 local government areas.

Five votes were voided.

“The electoral committee has delivered on its mandate. After voting and counting witnessed by the agents of the candidate and the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, having the highest number of votes, I declare Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the primary,” Salaudeen said.

Reacting to the factional primary, the caretaker Chairman of Accord Party in Osun State, Babalola Akande, said those who organised the exercise are not recognised by the party.

Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Akande reiterated that Adeleke remains the duly nominated and lawful governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the state.

He said, “This position is incontestable, irreversible, and firmly grounded in law, having emerged through due process in accordance with the Constitution of the Accord, the Electoral Act 2022, and established judicial precedents,” he said.

He urged Osun residents to ignore the “distractions, which are the handiwork of politically displaced actors who, having been repeatedly rejected by the electorate, now resort to impersonation, falsehood, and institutional sabotage in a futile bid to return to power through the back door.

“We are hearing that the person being used for this purpose is a legal practitioner. That, to us, will make our job easy, as our party will stop at nothing but to report him to the appropriate authorities, including the LPDC.

“We therefore make bold to state that any institution or authority that accords recognition, protection, or legitimacy to such impostors or their activities does so at its own legal peril, as the Accord will promptly and decisively invoke necessary judicial intervention to protect its constitutional rights, internal democracy, and the sanctity of the ballot.

“For the final time, and for the sake of emphasis, by virtue of the valid primary election lawfully conducted on Wednesday, 10th December 2025, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke is the sole and legally recognised governorship candidate of the Accord in Osun State. No parallel structure, no impersonator, and no contrived spectacle can alter this legal reality.”

Most of the workers who spoke with our reporter during a monitoring visit on Tuesday noted that the commissioner should be held accountable for the crisis, which has led to the closure of ministries, departments, and agencies.
The alleged lukewarm attitude of the commissioner towards the recent biometric exercise, according to them, necessitated the ongoing industrial action embarked on by the workers.

It was observed that the gates of the Taraba State Secretariat in Jalingo, along with other government offices, remained locked, while NLC officials turned back civil servants who attempted to resume work.
The industrial action, declared after a joint decision by the NLC and TUC, has since spread to various sectors. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Taraba State University, TSU, chapter, had also announced its participation, further compounding the shutdown of public services.
Workers vowed to continue pressing their demands until government addresses the issues raised and takes decisive action on the commissioner’s role in the impasse.

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reassured residents that the ongoing political crisis will ultimately make them stronger, not weaker.

He made this remark while hosting Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic groups, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, at his private residence in Port Harcourt as part of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

Speaking to the delegation, Fubara encouraged them and his supporters to remain steadfast and trust in God’s plan, saying, “This season represents love, sharing, and sacrifice. You have come to share in our pain and have made great sacrifices through your prayers.

“As Christians, we believe everything happens for a purpose, and I strongly believe this situation is guiding us toward a greater one.”

Fubara admitted the crisis may be disheartening but suggested it could be guided by higher forces.

According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to justice and equality, emphasizing his vision for a society free from oppression.

He assured the Muslims that their pending requests would be addressed after the political situation stabilizes.

Urging patience and perseverance, he drew a biblical analogy saying, “If God could be patient with Noah, allowing even the snail to enter the Ark, then patience remains essential in our struggle.”

He warned against those inciting violence through provocative acts, urging his supporters and Rivers people to reject elements seeking to destabilize the state.

“Their goal is to create problems and deny people their livelihoods.

“We will not allow that. We will continue to operate peacefully and respect constituted authority to ensure Rivers remains a model for others in Nigeria.”

Representing the Muslim Ummah, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor expressed unwavering support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, assuring him of their prayers and solidarity amid the ongoing political crisis.

Uhor highlighted that the majority of Muslims in Rivers State stand with Fubara because of his commitment to inclusive governance.

Unlike the previous administration, which declared Rivers a 100% Christian state, he praised Fubara for acknowledging the state’s Christian majority while fostering religious inclusivity.

He encouraged the governor to remain resolute, emphasizing that challenges like these are consistent with Islamic teachings, where believers are tested through wealth, power and authority.

He further urged President Bola Tinubu to reassess the emergency rule in Rivers State and reinstate Fubara’s full authority, arguing that the governor has continued to lead effectively despite the political turmoil.

The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in the state following the killing of seven people alleged to be kidnappers.

According to report the suspects were allegedly lynched and burnt alive by an angry mob in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area.

In a statement, Dr Anthony Aziegbemi, Chairman of the Edo State PDP Caretaker Committee, condemned the mob action, saying: “With seven people burnt alive in a single day and over 100 others killed in recent months, the PDP is calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action. The mayhem currently unfolding in Edo surpasses the incidents in Rivers State, which resulted in the declaration of a state of emergency.

“These needless deaths are far too many. We urge the President to act immediately to prevent further loss of lives and ensure the safety and security of Edo State and its people.”

Aziegbemi alleged that the killings were led by the recently reorganised state vigilante operatives under the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo.

He further stated that Edo residents, having endured repeated killings, abductions, and sexual violence in recent months without intervention from the state government or security agencies, have now resorted to extrajudicial killings out of frustration.

“For emphasis, we reiterate that kidnapping, murder, and other violent crimes have become daily occurrences in Edo, claiming no fewer than 100 lives in the last few months.

“The Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, even raised an alarm on the Senate floor that the state was under siege. The crisis in Edo surpasses the skirmishes in Rivers State, which resulted in a state of emergency declaration.

“Therefore, for the safety of our people and to end these mindless killings, rapes, abductions, and destruction of property, we strongly believe that the President must declare a state of emergency in Edo as a matter of urgency.

“The people of Uromi, after the mayhem of yesterday, now live in fear of possible reprisals from the relatives and communities of those killed by the vigilante operatives.

“As we speak, the area has been deserted, with residents in hiding for fear of the unknown. This makes a state of emergency even more crucial. If the relatives of those gruesomely killed regroup and launch an attack, it could lead to a full-blown war within the state.

“We sympathise with the families of the victims of these unfortunate and senseless killings and pray that God grants them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.

According to report Governor Monday Okpebholo visited the scene of the incident on Friday, 28 March 2025, and ordered a full-scale investigation.

Describing the killings as unjustifiable, Okpebholo noted that the act was allegedly committed by members of a local vigilante group. He directed the Edo State Police Command and other security agencies to conduct a thorough and swift investigation and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

The governor also urged the community to cooperate with security agencies to identify and apprehend the culprits.

DAILY POST reported that at least four individuals have been arrested in connection with the killings.

Hon. Yusuf Shittu Galambi, representing Gwaram Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, has refuted allegations that members of the National Assembly were bribed to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.

His statement comes amid ongoing controversy, with some groups accusing lawmakers of being influenced in their decision-making.

In a press release issued on Saturday, Galambi dismissed the claims, insisting that lawmakers neither received inducements nor were coerced into backing the president’s decision.

According to him, the majority of members supported the measure out of a commitment to protecting democracy and safeguarding the interests of the people of Rivers State.

He emphasized that the National Assembly’s endorsement was motivated by a desire to uphold patriotism, political stability, peace, and the protection of democratic institutions.

“I was shocked by the media reports spreading falsehoods and mischief, suggesting that we were bribed or forced into supporting the president’s decision regarding Rivers State,” he said.

He further explained that lawmakers backed the move as a necessary step to preserve democracy and even to protect Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who faces intense political opposition from a faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly, which could lead to his impeachment.

“Nigerians should recognize the role of the National Assembly in advising the president to establish a reconciliation team of eminent Nigerians before the six-month emergency rule expires,” he added.

Addressing criticism from opposition groups and civil society organizations, Galambi insisted that lawmakers prioritized national unity, political cohesion, and democratic stability over emotional reactions.

“Contrary to the views of opposition groups and activists, we assessed the situation with a focus on patriotism, peace, and the preservation of democratic structures—including the people, the governor, and the Rivers State Assembly,” he stated.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to support peaceful dialogue in resolving the crisis.

“I call on well-meaning Nigerians to give peace a chance and allow Mr. President to explore the best possible solutions through dialogue and unity,” he said.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strong warning to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)-led Kano State government following controversial remarks made by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.

Abdulsalam had accused Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje, wife of former Governor and current APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, of financial misconduct, specifically interfering with pension funds during her husband’s tenure.

In a widely circulated video seen by DAILY POST, the Deputy Governor alleged that pensioners were only paid after Professor Hafsat had taken her share of the funds.

Reacting to these allegations, APC’s Kano Publicity Secretary, Ahmad S. Aruwa, strongly condemned Abdulsalam’s statements during an interview with Express Radio.

He described the remarks as defamatory and a violation of Nigeria’s constitution.

Aruwa stated that the comments amounted to character assassination and went against constitutional principles.

He further warned that such statements could escalate tensions in Kano, potentially leading to a declaration of a state of emergency, similar to what was imposed in Rivers State by the Bola Tinubu administration.
