Talata Mafara, Zamfara State – The people of Talata Mafara Local Government Area in Zamfara State have expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, for their pivotal roles in a successful security operation that led to the elimination of two notorious bandit leaders, Jijji Ɗan Auta and Kachallah Sagili.

The high-profile operation, carried out on Thursday in Maikwanugga community within Talata Mafara, involved a coordinated effort between Nigerian security forces and local vigilantes. The mission, hailed as a breakthrough in the battle against insecurity in the northwest, was also attributed to the strategic leadership of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa.

In a statement made available to TheNigerian, community spokesperson Yakubu Ibrahim Mafara praised the federal government and security agencies for their commitment to restoring peace in Zamfara.

“We are very grateful to Matawalle, Tinubu, NSA, and others,” Mafara said, noting that the death of the two criminals brought hope to a community long tormented by violent attacks, kidnappings, and extortion.

The statement emphasized that the successful neutralization of the bandit kingpins marked a significant step toward lasting security in the region. Residents described the operation as timely and well-executed, commending the collaborative effort that involved precise patrols along the Mafara axis.

According to local sources cited by TheNigerian, both Jajji Ɗan Auta and Kachallah Sagili had been on the government’s watchlist for years due to their leadership roles in criminal syndicates that have destabilized Zamfara and neighbouring states.

The development has sparked celebrations among residents who now hope that consistent military presence and support from the federal government will ensure a return to normalcy.

Security analysts believe this victory could mark a turning point in the fight against rural banditry in Nigeria’s northwest, provided sustained efforts are maintained.
