Tax Reform Bills: NASS Joint Committee Concludes Deliberations

The National Assembly’s joint Conference Committee, which was established to examine and reconcile the Tax Reform Bills, has effectively finished its task.
The Honorable James Faleke, the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, announced this in a statement on Saturday.
He revealed that in order to finish the assignment, the committee members worked from Thursday evening through Friday and into the early hours of Saturday.

The Tax Reform Bills are now prepared to be presented to the House and Senate for final passage, Faleke said.

The House and Senate-appointed Conference Committee on the Tax Reform Bills has effectively completed its work, according to the statement.
I am happy to announce that the Bills are now prepared for presentation to the House and the Senate for final passage following a rigorous deliberation that lasted through Thursday night, Friday, and into the early hours of Saturday.

“I would especially like to thank the Senate Conference Committee, which is skillfully led by the distinguished senator Sani Musa, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, as well as all of the committee’s members. I also want to express my sincere gratitude to my fellow members of the House Conference Committee, which I had the privilege of chairing, for their steadfast dedication to the Nigerian people.

“We sincerely appreciate your commitment and perseverance in seeing this significant assignment through to its effective completion.

“Thank you, and may the Federal Republic of Nigeria continue to be blessed by God.” Amen.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu sent measures to the Senate and House of Representatives, which each passed them separately. The president will be asked to sign the harmonized bills after they have been approved by the legislature.
