Tersoo Kula – Alia: A Divine Blessing for Benue in 2023

Most people in the North Central State consider Governor Hyacinth Alia’s 2023 election to Benue State to be a godsend, especially in light of his unparalleled dedication to promoting social welfare, development, and peace.

A new surge of public trust, as well as a revitalized sense of hope and advancement throughout the state, have been solidified by his leadership.

Agriculture and food security are among his most prominent sectors of governance. Benue State, dubbed the “Food Basket of the Nation,” flourishes thanks to measures that provide farmers with better inputs, automated machinery, and market access.

For example, the Governor’s administration has made it easier for both small-scale and commercial farmers to increase yield by facilitating the distribution of modern irrigation systems and farm equipment, such as tractors of different brands and capacities, ranging from 25 to 95 horsepower, along with a number of complementary farm equipment, such as combine harvesters, various types of threshers, planters/fertilizer applicators, excavators, and yam mounders. In addition to increasing the local food supply, this also creates jobs and revenue, which affects thousands of people’s means of subsistence.

Governor Alia has shown imaginative leadership in the field of infrastructure development. With extensive reconstruction, building, and office and classroom renovation, special attention is paid to the primary school system, which has been almost ignored up until now. The Igumale-Apa-Agila road, the Awajir-Mbaiase-Oju road, the Mbawuar-Mbause-Anhyula road, the Gbem-Hegha-Use-Ushongo road, the Vandeikya-Tse Mker-Koti-Adikpo road, and numerous other roads connecting rural communities to major towns are at varying stages of completion, cutting travel times and boosting trade.

In Makurdi, the state capital of the Food Basket State, the administration of Governor Alia is diligently and quickly rebuilding and upgrading important facilities. In order to facilitate mobility and lessen flooding problems, major inner-city roads have been built, renovated, drainage systems have been expanded, and lamps have been erected throughout the state along practically all vital streets and key corridors. The city’s security and functionality have been improved by these unparalleled improvements.

Additionally, his administration has revitalized social amenities and public utilities, such as certain schools, marketplaces, and medical facilities. Makurdi now has a cleaner, more orderly, and livable appearance appropriate for a contemporary state capital thanks to efforts in urban cleanliness, beautification, and the renovation of public buildings.

Living conditions have directly increased as a result of initiatives like improving healthcare facilities throughout the state and using solar energy to electrify isolated settlements. Expanded primary healthcare facilities and freshly furnished hospitals, for instance, guarantee that individuals have improved access to medical care, lowering death rates and enhancing overall community health.

Security and peacebuilding have also been given top priority by Alia’s administration, especially in a state that has traditionally experienced unprovoked attacks, invasions, and intercommunal conflicts. His administration has established channels for settling disputes and fostering harmony through constant coordination with the nation’s security agencies, communication, mediation, and cooperation with regional leaders. In order to ensure that people feel comfortable in their homes and places of business, community policing initiatives have been introduced, equipped, and funded.

His emphasis on education and young empowerment is another asset. Governor Alia has made it possible for young people to make significant contributions to society by offering bonds and scholarships, skill-building programs, and vocational training, such as the training of over 10,000 in ICT. For instance, many young people have benefited from technical education programs and agricultural training programs. For instance, more than 900 young people have received training in the assembly and maintenance of tractors and other mechanized machinery and equipment, giving them useful skills for independence.

Start and Industry is not excluded because the state’s industrialization is in full swing, with companies producing orange juice, nails, water, bread, and beer already taking off and yielding. These have already brought joy to the state’s youth and will soon increase Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Finally, transparency, accountability, and teamwork are key components of Governor Alia’s style of governance. His administration continuously involves stakeholders in decision-making, ensuring that policies reflect the requirements of the people, in addition to reinstating discipline and order in the civil service and restoring the dignity of the Benue workers. The state’s democratic process is strengthened and trust is increased by this unique inclusive approach.

As a result, Benue State’s agriculture, education, infrastructure, healthcare, security, youth empowerment, and good governance have all been impacted by Governor Hyacinth Alia’s leadership. The Governor’s election in 2023 is a blessing that promises social stability, long-term progress, and an enhanced standard of living for the people of Benue State through his practical and people-focused policies.

Therefore, it is reasonable to say that the Benue people made the right choice in choosing Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia to be their governor. The state is already seeing his developmental footprints. The vision is intact. Just as the Reverend Gentleman himself has continued to echo at public forums, the commendable strides highlighted are only the top of the iceberg. With a burning passion, he has his sights set on the goal post and will provide more in the next six years of his administration.

We rely on street testimonials. Benue is greater than any one person. People are talking. The decision was made by them, and they are already pleased with it. The Clarion call is for the Benue people to continue praying for Governor Alia and his administration, as well as for their God-sent blessing.
