‘There’s No Real Opposition’ – New APC Chairman Mocks PDP, LP, ADC

Nentawe Yilwatda, the newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has ruled out the possibility that Nigeria’s opposition parties will run against his party in the 2027 elections.
Yilwatda asserts that the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is supported by the coalition, is one of the opposition parties in the nation that the APC is not concerned about.
Shortly after he was elected head of the ruling party, he stated in an interview with Channels Television on Thursday that “there is no opposition for now.”

He boasted that the 2027 presidential election would not be an anomaly because the APC had won the 2023 elections handily and had since gone on to win nearly all bye-elections and off-season gubernatorial contests with landslides.

He declared that there were “no fears” that the opposition coalition will overthrow the APC in 2027.

What is the reason behind the APC’s resounding wins in the majority of the by-elections held during the past two years? He made a joke.

In addition to winning elections, the former Humanitarian Affairs Minister promised to bring the party together and recruit more governors from the opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“It is my responsibility to bring the party together and to grow it.” As of right now, there are twenty-three governors. It’s my responsibility to attract more. He responded, “We would bring in more and do the legwork.”
