‘Things Are Falling To Pieces, Nigerians Struggling To Stay Afloat’ – Kate Henshaw

Kate Henshaw, a Nollywood actress, has questioned whether the nation’s unbroken democratic rule is still relevant if it ignores the demands of its people.
The movie actress reportedly claimed that the nation’s democratic experience has not had a significant impact on the lives of common people in an interview on Channels Television’s special Democracy Day program on Thursday.

Kate Henshaw bemoaned the decline of the middle class, the rise in poverty, and the deterioration of public infrastructure, emphasizing that Nigerians are fighting to survive in increasingly difficult socioeconomic circumstances.

In spite of the harsh facts, Henshaw encouraged Nigerians to continue holding the government accountable.

She claimed that the people were not feeling the effects of our democracy. We have had democracy for a long time, but how does that affect other people? Does that trickle-down effect exist? What effects does it have on the everyday lives of Nigerians?

“We can no longer deceive ourselves, and there is no middle class. The healthcare system is in ruins, people are poor, and there is no security.

In Nigeria, people are barely surviving as everything around them collapses.

“We cannot win the fight for the things that matter in a day. Silence is not an option. We must always be vigilant in holding the government responsible.

Justice, equity, and security for people’s lives and property are essential.

“There is nothing to say and nothing has been actualized,” the actress added, adding that she was hesitant to participate in the customary Democratic Day celebrations.

She continued, “I would have tweeted ‘Happy Democracy Day,’ but I was at a loss for words. It is merely the sensation of something fading that hasn’t really materialized.

However, I continue to hope that we will have a nation for our kids to grow up in and build upon.
