Three feared dead, others kidnapped as bandits attack Kaduna community

At least three persons have been killed while three others were kidnapped after a late-night attack by suspected bandits on Bundu Kahugu community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The community was thrown into mourning following the attack which reportedly occurred on Monday night at about 11pm.
Confirming the attack on Tuesday, the National Secretary of Bundu Kahugu community, Ishaya Dauda, said the assailants invaded the village under the cover of darkness, shooting sporadically and terrorising residents.

Dauda stated that the community had suffered a similar attack barely two weeks ago, during which four people were killed, raising concerns over the repeated assaults on the area.
“The attackers came late at night and began shooting. Three people were killed instantly, while three others were taken away. This is the second attack on our community in less than two weeks,” he said.

Locals have pleaded with the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to urgently deploy military personnel to the area to forestall further attacks.
They also called on telecommunication companies to improve network coverage in the community, noting that the attackers often exploit poor communication networks to operate freely and escape without resistance.
“We are pleading with the government to help us. The poor network here is aiding the attackers. We need security presence and improved communication facilities to save our people,” the community leader added.

Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, efforts to get a reaction from the Kaduna State Police Command proved abortive.
