Tinubu Appoints New Governing Councils for Three Universities

New members of the University of Abuja’s Governing Council, the University of Nigeria’s Nsukka (UNN), and Nnamdi Azikiwe University’s Awka (NAU) have been appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the action is the most recent development in Tinubu’s reform initiative for the federal university system.
Professor Rosemary Iriowen Egonmwan from the South-South, Dr. Adedeji Adefuye from the Southwest, Professor Sarki Abba Abdulkadir from the Northwest, and Professor Aminu Mohammed Dukku from the Northeast were all selected by Tinubu to the newly established council for the University of Abuja.

Two new members have been added to the Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

It comes after the University of Abuja’s Governing Council was dissolved in February and Professor Aisha Maikudi, the university’s vice-chancellor, was dismissed due to concerns over her eligibility and appointment.
Professor Rosemary Iriowen Egonmwan from the South-South, Dr. Adedeji Adefuye from the Southwest, Professor Sarki Abba Abdulkadir from the Northwest, and Professor Aminu Mohammed Dukku from the Northeast were all selected by Tinubu to the newly established council for the University of Abuja.

Two new members have been added to the Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

They are Muhammad Inuwa Tahir from the Northwest and Barrister Ogbonna Eugene Odo from the Southeast.

Four new members were added to the council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka by the president.

The two Southeast-born appointees are Ofoke Chukwuma Charles Ugbala and Dr. Nkem Okeke, a former deputy governor of Anambra State.

Dame Amina Patrick Yakowa from the Northwest and Nojeeb Oriola Agunbiade from the Southwest have both been appointed.

The administration’s larger initiative to realign federal universities for better accountability, strategic planning, and academic excellence in accordance with national development goals is thought to include the selections.
