During a rally to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, some APC officials ignored Vice President Kashim Shettima, according to former presidential adviser Bashir Ahmad.

Key party officials, including as APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and North-East zonal leader Mustapha Salihu, neglected to mention Mr. Shettima in their comments, which caused the Sunday endorsement gathering in the North-East to degenerate into chaos.

The absence infuriated the delegates and party members present, who protested by disrupting the program.

After Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Vice Chairman (North-East), took the podium and acknowledged the vice president, it took his intervention to defuse the tension.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s adviser Bashir Ahmad responded to the event on X on Sunday by cautioning that keeping the vice president out of such discussions could harm the party’s unity.

In his post, he stated that those who purposefully bring up President Tinubu’s name in relation to 2027 while casually neglecting Vice President Kashim Shettima, his deputy, are not doing what is beneficial for our wonderful party, the APC.

“In politics, there are numerous ways to interpret both what is said and what is not stated. “We are aware that it is a joint ticket between BAT and KSM,” he wrote.
