The Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has said that the intentions of President Bola Tinubu toward national development are genuine and beyond doubt.
Ojelabi made this remark on Sunday evening at the third edition of the APC Christmas Carol and Nine Lessons, held at the party’s secretariat in the Ogba area of Lagos State.
The event, tagged “Prince of Peace (Omo Alade Alafia)”, attracted party leaders, government officials, religious leaders, and party faithful, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Urging Nigerians to reaffirm their resilience amid challenges, Ojelabi commended President Tinubu’s commitment to national unity, economic revitalisation, and citizens’ welfare.
“We acknowledge with gratitude and commend the good intentions of President Bola Tinubu to make Nigeria a safer and more prosperous place to live without fear and intimidation,” he said.
Ojelabi also reaffirmed the Lagos APC leadership’s commitment to security, noting that the party, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, remains resolute in safeguarding lives and property.
“Lagos is safe and will continue to be safe — a safe haven for residents, visitors, and tourists,” he added.
Speaking on the significance of the Christmas carol, Ojelabi described the theme as a recognition of Jesus Christ as the Prince of Peace, stressing that the event underscored the role of religious leadership in promoting peace and prosperity.
He urged Nigerians to embrace love, humility, and service, while rejecting bitterness, hatred, and violence, in order to build a safer and more prosperous nation.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, noted that Lagos had enjoyed peace for over 25 years and called on residents to continue prioritising peace regardless of political differences.
Senate Leader, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, in his goodwill message, urged Nigerians to remove obstacles hindering personal and national progress, reminding citizens of the true meaning of Christmas and the teachings of Christ.
Religious and political leaders, including Rev. Esther Ajayi, Dr. Ibikoke Sanwo-Olu, and Bishop Stephen Adegbite, took turns reading the nine lessons and offering prayers for the nation, President Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and Lagos State.
The event featured musical performances by church choirs and gospel artistes and drew a large turnout of APC members, religious leaders, and traditional rulers.
