The governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is ignoring what he described as impurities allegedly contained in the country’s new tax laws, which he claimed would impoverish Nigerians and sub-national governments.
He disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday while pushing back against what he described as a witch-hunt by the Tinubu administration.Governor Mohammed called on the Federal Government to review the tax laws.
“In spite of all the impurities, they are still going ahead with it to impoverish the common man and the sub-nationals (states), and we are keeping quiet,” he said.
Earlier, Governor Mohammed had accused the All Progressives Congress-led government of using anti-graft agencies to coerce governors into joining the ruling party.
