Awka, Anambra – May 11, 2025 | In a politically symbolic moment, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been conferred with the traditional title “Dike Si Mba”, meaning “Hero from Another Land”, by traditional rulers in Anambra State—the home of opposition leader Peter Obi.
The prestigious title was awarded during the President’s official visit to Anambra on Thursday, May 8, where he inaugurated the state’s first-ever Government House, a historic development in the 30-year history of the southeastern state.
The event, led by Igwe Chidubem Iweka of Obosi and the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, brought together royal representatives from all 179 communities across the state. The title, “Dike Si Mba,” signifies deep respect and recognition from a region long considered a Labour Party stronghold.
President Tinubu’s visit also included the commissioning of several projects completed by Governor Charles Soludo, who publicly endorsed Tinubu for a second term and hinted at a potential APGA-Tinubu alliance in the 2027 presidential election.
This move comes amid ongoing efforts by opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, to form a united coalition against the ruling party ahead of the next election. Peter Obi, who secured over 90% of the votes in Anambra during the 2023 presidential election and defeated Tinubu in Lagos, remains a central figure in opposition politics.
However, Tinubu’s reception in Obi’s backyard may signal shifting allegiances in the Southeast and could influence the political narrative as the 2027 race heats up.
