In order to find the Alaafin of Oyo-designate, who had left for Canada before to his official coronation in Oyo Kingdom, Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu said that he nearly contacted former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
This was said by Tinubu during a visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday, when he was presented with Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, the recently appointed 46th Alaafin of Oyo.
“When the nomination was announced and you returned to Canada, you caused anxiety.” I genuinely wanted to call the President of Canada, so I had wanted to call the Prime Minister. He informed me that he would not run for politics again when we were in Brazil together.

The President remarked, “I wanted to ask him if he could help me find my Alaafin, but I was later assured that you went to sign off.”

He praised the new king for upholding the Yoruba culture in Canada and for exhibiting morality and discipline.

The positive reputation you left in Canada and the way you portrayed our race as a dedicated engineer who aspires to advance this nation make me happy that you are a ray of hope for the rest of our race. It’s fortunate that you arrived here first, are back, and have been crowned. “Thank you very much,” the president said.

Tinubu emphasized that inclusivity was necessary for the country’s culture, peace, and stability, pointing out that running the country was not a task best left to one person.
