Tinubu’s commitment to Ogoni development evident in key projects – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said that President Bola Tinubu’s affection for the Ogoni ethnic nationality has translated into key development projects aimed at improving the area.

Wike made the remark on Tuesday during a Christmas visit to the people of Khana Local Government Area, Rivers State, where he was received by a large crowd of supporters.
According to the minister, his visit was intended to appreciate the people for their sustained support over the years.

He noted that the Ogoni people had, for many years, agitated for the establishment of a university, a demand he said was fulfilled by President Tinubu with the siting of the Federal University of Environment and Technology, FUET, at Koroma, Saakpenwa, in Tai Local Government Area.
Wike also highlighted what he described as deliberate and intentional actions taken by the Tinubu administration in favour of Ogoniland, including the construction of the road linking the area to Bonny Island.

He further referenced the president’s decision to honour and pardon the Ogoni four martyrs, describing it as a significant gesture of reconciliation.
The minister added that the Ogoni people have benefited from several federal appointments under the current administration, assuring them that more appointments would follow.
