The cases brought against two PDP House of Representatives members have been dismissed by the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, which is based in Kaduna State.
The applications filed against members Bashir Shadow, who represents the Kauru Federal Constituency, and David Gurara, who represents the Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency, were both dismissed by the tribunal on Saturday.
In the House of Representatives election held on February 25, 2023, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the two federal members were re-elected.
All Progressives Congress candidates Gabriel Zock and Mukhtar Zakari brought the two PDP members before the tribunal.
Zock requested that the tribunal invalidate INEC’s proclamation and order new elections in his appeal, alleging that elections were not held in 43 voting places.
Shadow was the subject of a petition that had also been started by Zakari, who claimed that Shadow had produced a fake school transcript.
In ruling on the petition filed by Zock, Justice H.H. Kereng, the tribunal’s chairman, stated that the petitioner had not offered solid proof of his claims.
In addition, Justice Maiwada Abubakar rejected Zakari’s plea for lack of merit in rendering her decision.
