Following the collapse of a ceasefire pact he mediated between the two longstanding adversaries, US President Donald Trump has blasted both Israel and Iran, threatening that more military action will violate the truce and escalate tensions.
Trump reportedly said that both countries had “fully agreed” to end hostilities when he announced the staggered ceasefire late Monday, describing the move as a breakthrough following what he called a “12-day battle.”
However, the Israeli government accused Iran of breaking the conditions of the ceasefire only hours before it was set to go into effect on Tuesday. Tehran swiftly refuted the accusation, which raised additional doubts about the tenuous truce.
Israel said that Iran fired missiles shortly after the ceasefire began, which was scheduled to begin at 4:00 a.m. GMT on Tuesday. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office vowed to “respond forcefully” to any attack and denounced the development.
The office warned that Tel Aviv has the right to self-defense and declared that “Israel will not stand idle in the face of provocation.”

Iranian officials responded by denying violating the ceasefire, calling Israel out for its “false claims,” and threatening to strike again without hesitation.

Trump, who was clearly upset over the events, vented on his Truth Social platform, blaming both parties of sabotaging a peace initiative he had ardently supported.
“There is a truce in place! I appreciate you taking the time to look into this. In his post, Trump emphasized that there should be no more attacks.
Trump warned that any additional Israeli shelling of Iran would be against the terms of the agreement in a second post that was filled with rage and profanity.
In his very dramatic manner, he said, “All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran.”
Israeli military apparently launched a “limited response” against a radar site north of Tehran in spite of Trump’s warnings.
But after speaking directly with Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli government declared it would halt more assaults while it held diplomatic talks.
