South African music gem Tyla has released the official music video for the remix of her trending hit single, “Water,” in which she features American rapper and singer Travis Scott.

The blue-tinted music video, which dropped officially on Tyla’s YouTube channel on the night of March 18, 2024, features a simple setting with Tyla dancing under the rain while Scott gazes at her through a mirror that separates them from each other even as they both portray highly sensual gestures towards each other.

While the rains depict the title of the song “Water,” it further complements the entire creative concept and the lyrics of the song while putting fans in awe and making the wait for the highly anticipated visuals worth it.

Meanwhile, Tyla and Travis Scott’s “Water” remix music video comes amidst heightened expectations for the Amapiano/RnB singer’s self-titled debut music album “Tyla,” which is billed for a release on Friday, March 22, 2024.

Tyla had recently gained so much attention herself and ignited enormous anticipation in her fans and music lovers across the globe for the release of the project, whose release date she announced earlier this week while sharing both the artwork and tracklist via her social media handles.

According to her, the album, which is named after her, features notable artists from South Africa and beyond, including Tems, Becky G, Kelvin Momo, Gunna, and Jamaican dancehall DJ and rapper Skilibeng amongst others.

The South African artist, while describing the album’s sound as experimental, reportedly disclosed that she has been working on the project for over two years and that it promises to be a unique fusion of musical styles encompassing a multiplicity of genres, including Amapiano, western pop, hip-hop, and R&B.

Recall that the Grammy Award-winning artist began to gain traction after the original version of her steamy “Water” hit single earned her a plaque at the 66th Grammy Awards, which were held recently at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 4, 2024.

Tyla had taken the world by storm when she defeated other African music icons who were nominated in the same category as her. The likes of Davido, who prides himself on being one of the biggest artists out of Africa, alongside other industry heavyweights such as Olamide, Asake, and the Nigerian celestial queen, otherwise known as Ayra Star, were all defeated in Los Angeles.

In a related publication, a Billboard reporter discloses that Tyla’s remix of the Grammy award-winning single was a result of her inability to decline Scott’s proposal for a remix of the song.

The singer had reportedly said she was okay without a remix for the song until she started receiving several proposals from music creatives around the world. Though she declined many, it was gathered that she decided to give Scott a chance because she felt he had something tangible to offer. She is also reported to have acknowledged him killing it after he delivered an open verse.

However, Tyla has recently been accused by fans of being an implant in the industry and this continues to gain momentum as netizens recount her sudden rise to stardom while comparing her to her Nigerian counterpart, Ayra Starr, who is of the same age as her.
