Adewale Kudabo, a Nigerian medical worker, has been sentenced to one year in prison for sexually assaulting a patient at York medical.
Kudabo, who pled guilty to two charges of sexual assault on the first day of his trial in April, was incarcerated on June 10.
Judge Alex Menary stated that Kudabo had “abused the trust” put in him as a healthcare provider.
“You abused that trust,” Menary told Kudabo in court, stressing that the victim had placed faith in him at a vulnerable time.

According to the prosecution, Kudabo was ordered to bathe a patient in excruciating pain. After supporting her, he allegedly kissed her on the lips, which the victim, despite her state, attempted to avoid.
According to Prosecutor Henry Fernandez, the victim was left bewildered and uncomfortable.
Days later, Kudabo allegedly approached the same patient again, offering another “bed bath,” and attempting to kiss her.
The court heard that the incident caused the victim substantial mental suffering, such as anxiety and flashbacks.
Jerry Sodipe, Kudabo’s lawyer, portrayed him as sorry despite having no prior convictions.
“He has held up his hands to say, yes, he is guilty, he shouldn’t have done that,” Sodipe told the court.
Sodipe went on to say that Kudabo had migrated to the UK from Nigeria with his family for employment, but he had since lost his job due to the event.
The York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs York Hospital, issued a statement expressing “sincere apologies” to the victim and confirming that Kudabo resigned shortly after the incident.
Judge Menary determined that Kudabo must serve half of his 12-month sentence before being eligible for parole.
