According to Chief Dan Ulasi, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), only God can decide if the party will win the president in the general elections in 2027.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Friday, Ulasi stated that although the PDP is working to restructure itself before the elections, divine will is ultimately what would determine its existence and success.
At least seven PDP governors attended the party’s most recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, the PDP chieftain said, calling it a welcome indication of unity and dedication to repositioning the party.
Ulasi further noted that the PDP has zoned its presidential ticket to the South, but since it hasn’t produced a president under the existing democratic regime, fairness requires that it be micro-zoned to the South East.
“Well, I’ll respond to that question by saying that only God will know whether the PDP will win the presidency in 2027,” he remarked. Who will be alive tomorrow morning is a mystery only God knows. And I usually say that I don’t make assumptions about things that are out of my control. If God wills, we have the desire or hope to take action.
“If PDP endures, as we hope to do… Additionally, nearly seven of our governors attended the most recent National Executive Meeting. The fact that everyone is now considering ways to restructure the party and give it a stronger foundation for 2027 and other upcoming elections was a welcome change.
“As you are aware, the party has positioned the presidency to the south, but I am not sure who the candidate will be. Indeed, and if they are sincere, as you suggested, they ought to microzone it to the South East, as, in theory, we are currently the only region that hasn’t had a president during this particular administration.
