The Speaker of the House of Representatives in the United States, Ms Nancy Pelosi and a Congressional delegation have arrived Kotaka International Airport in Accra, the state capital.
The delegation while in Ghana will pay solemn respects at the Cape Coast and Elmina Castles and the “Door of No Return” as part of the 400th anniversary of the First Enslaved Africans landing in America.
Pelosi will also hold high-level discussions in the coming days with President Nana Addo, Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye and other senior government officials.
Although, she was met at the airport by an entourage, including the US Ambassador to Ghana, Stephanie S. Sullivan.
Meanwhile, a dinner was however held in honour of Speaker Pelosi at the Jubilee Lounge of parliament following her arrival while She expressed her gratitude at the honour, while commending the growing partnership between Ghana and the US.
“It is a special honour to be the first U.S. Speaker of the House to address the illustrious Parliament of Ghana, as we build on the partnership between our nations,” she said.
