Russia has condemned the United States military operation in Venezuela, saying the act of armed aggression in Caracas is “extremely concerning.”
“The justifications put forward for these actions have no factual basis,” the Foreign Ministry declared in a statement on Saturday.
Moscow noted that ideological hostility has prevailed over a pragmatic approach and over efforts to build relationships based on trust and predictability.
Russia, however, stressed the importance of preventing further escalation and focusing on seeking a resolution through dialogue, under the present circumstances.
The Federation advised all parties with grievances to pursue solutions to their problems by engaging in dialogue, assuring that it stands ready to assist in the efforts.
Russia demands that Venezuela be guaranteed the right to determine its own future “without destructive external interference, particularly of a military nature.”
Moscow reaffirmed its solidarity with the Venezuelan people and its support for the Bolivarian leadership to safeguard the country’s national interests and sovereignty.
Russia further aligned with the position of the Venezuelan authorities and the leaders of Latin American countries regarding an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council.
The Foreign Ministry added that the Embassy in Caracas remains in constant contact with the Venezuelan authorities as well as with Russian nationals.
