Veekee James, a fashion designer, has expressed her opinions about what kinds of friendships are appropriate in her marriage.
She reportedly said it when speaking with VJ Adams on the Off the Top program.
The Lagos-based designer claimed that because she believes she should be the closest woman to her husband, Femi Atere, he is unable to maintain a female best friend.
She clarified that this regulation benefits their household and keeps things peaceful.
“Even if Femi Atere has a female best friend, I’ll occupy it with all of herself and her body alone,” she declared.
She also talked about previous online controversy, stating that she had once received hurtful remarks accusing her of stealing Femi.
She claims that although the internet buzz had an impact on her mental health at the time, she was able to move on.
On February 10, 2024, Veekee and Femi tied the knot after being engaged in late 2023.
Earlier this year, the pair celebrated their first wedding anniversary.
In other developments, Toke Makinwa, a Nigerian fashion influencer and media personality, has sparked a new discussion on gender, marriage, and money after claiming that males, not women, are the largest gold diggers.
In a recent episode of her podcast, Makinwa discussed the long-standing misconception that women marry affluent men in order to benefit financially.
The media personality vehemently denounced the way society uses the phrase “gold digger” as a weapon against women.
She contended that the charge ignores the growing number of men who consciously choose to marry into wealthy households.
