[VIDEO] Democracy Day: Lagos CP Assures Security As Protesters Take to Streets

End Bad Governance protesters on Thursday took to the streets of Ikeja, Lagos State, to express their grievances regarding the state of the country as it marked Democracy Day.

Our correspondent at the scene reported that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, was present and addressing the protesters.

Earlier, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer shared a video on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, showing the presence of armed officers and assuring the public of maximum protection for the protesters.

He wrote:

“Democracy Day celebrants and protesters at Ikeja Underbridge…
Adequate security on the ground for celebrants and protesters alike.
No cause for alarm. Your safety and security remain our priority. #LagosPoliceNG”

Background:
The Lagos Police Command had earlier reached an agreement with 15 Civil Society Organisations, designating Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota as the only approved protest venue in Lagos.
