Legendary cartoonist and humour merchant, Wale Adenuga, is one man that has undoubtedly reached the pinnacle of his career. As a matter of fact, it is safe to say that ‘he has been there and done that’.

Having started his illustrious career as a cartoonist, with soar-way comics such as Ikebe Super, Super Story, Nnenna and Friends, Binta ruling the market in their time, Adenuga has always been steps ahead of many of his peers.

At a time when the fortunes of printed copies were dwindling, the consummate businessman wasted no time in moving to another stage of his career.

Though not an easy feat, he switched to the production of television programmes, and he also made a success out of that. His works such as Papa Ajasco, Super Story, This Life, Binta and Friends, and Akpan and Oduma, among others, speak for him in that regard.

He has also produced movies such as The Perfect Church, Binta my Daughter, Knockout, among others.

Having had such an eventful career, it is not surprising that he decided to publish his biography, which many of his admirers had been clamouring for, for years.

Aptly titled, An Unusual Biography: Wale Adenuga: A Pencil in the Hands of the Creator, the book was written by the duo of Atim Nkpubre and Niran Adedokun.

Reading through the book, there is no doubt that Adenuga laid himself bare and held nothing back from his biographers. The book takes readers on a whirlwind journey, starting from Adenuga’s childhood to his educational sojourn, business endeavours, marriage, and family life.

Sharing many of the invaluable lessons he had learnt over the years in business and family, the book is a treasure trove, especially for young people, who are just starting their lives.

Not just a one-sided affair, the book also contains interviews with Adenuga’s family members, friends, business associates and employees; who corroborate many of the things said by the humour merchant.

Speaking on how he has managed to stay relevant over the years, Adenuga noted, in the book, that he always made sure he worked hard, did the right things at the right times, and invested in relationships.

It is often said that a person is not yet truly successful until they have raised successors, and on that note, one can indeed say that Adenuga is truly successful. He stated that having spent decades building the group of companies, which includes a production house, TV station and schools, he is no longer in charge of the day-to-day running of the business. Rather, he has handed over the reins to his children who are doing a great job of continuing his legacy.
