Following the passing of Doyin Okupe, the former presidential spokesperson and former director-general of Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign Organization, there have been conflicting responses.
After a protracted battle with the disease, Okupe died at the age of 72, according to information obtained by Naija News. His death was attributed to cancer.
In the weeks before his death, the former presidential adviser was reportedly in critical condition.

Additionally, it was stated that Okupe’s health had seriously declined, which alarmed his followers and family.

Nigerians on social media, however, have responded differently to Doyin Okupe’s passing. Okupe was hospitalized in October 2023 for prostate cancer and was transferred to Israel for treatment, but his condition did not improve as he and his family had hoped.

Below are a few of the conflicting responses:

Rest in peace, Dr. Doyin Okupe, Gozie @Gozie_mu! Your children and grandchildren will still have to deal with the nefarious regime you backed. You leave behind moral degradation and stomach infrastructure.

The account @kevcheOfficial For them, E no go beta. We don’t have beta for you either, Ronu. Don’t run am street, APC.

Gideon, Aloba O. @deluxe_k – Within a month, three prominent leaders—Dr. Doyin Okupe, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, and Edwin Clark—passed away. For everyone, death is an inevitable end. What ideas and ideals will people remember you for? That is the true question.

Let this serve as a roadmap for our life. Selah!

@White_Superion Very unfortunate. I pray that the Good Lord would pardon your transgressions and give you eternal peace. Amen. We all have a debt to death that we will eventually have to pay. Before I stand on the judgment throne, may I be ready. In the name of Jesus, may I not be found wanting, O Lord.

@DeemDozen — Deem Dozen I will weep for an unidentified child, but I will never weep for a king or a politician.

#JaymoneyIOC @John Donaldson However, the last time I saw him on TV, he didn’t appear ill. May his soul rest in peace.

The @doneneks account Even in his latter moments, he was unable to tolerate the truth. What a horrible legacy to leave. Hey!

Water Urhobo @XOghre His time was up. Did he make good use of it? Right now, we’re all enjoying ourselves. For what will people remember you?

There is a chance to improve every day. I’ll always advocate for what’s best for the people.

Ibeju Lekki’s Golden Son @Horlartunjee1 Doyin Okupe dying to politics is not something that some people do. What’s the matter with you all?

The account Ashleytol89 @Ashleytol891 Everyone has to pay the debt of death. He had time to change his ways, but he decided to put darkness before light, thus it’s unavoidable.
Whether he rests in peace or not is irrelevant to me, Abeg.

The Jiggy Speaker @Hardeytoonji I was aware that he most likely had a medical condition. Following the elections, he appeared gaunt. I hope he is at peace with his creator. Amen.

@PrinceLinus25, Prince Linus The ironic thing about Doyin’s passing is that politicians don’t realize that everyone will die and that what matters most is the legacy you leave behind. We wait, sweet Nigerians, and I get my own way.

@Nigerian May the deepest pit of hell be the ultimate destination for all criminal Nigerian leaders.

@TheVanGodson, Sir God’s son If only he had known… would have persisted and upheld the honorable way until the very end. But regrettably, he strayed… Still, may his soul rest in peace.

@NkyEzenwa SwtAngel1 – I sort of liken Doyin Okupe’s life to that of Michael Henchard, the character in The Mayor of Casterbridge, although the opposite is true. He rose to prominence when he led the youth to believe that he wanted to bring about constructive change in Nigeria, only to be sold out by the cabals.
