David Adeleke, also known as Davido, a Nigerian Afrobeat star, has revealed why he performed for free at the inauguration ceremony of Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
Remember that Davido performed some of his hit songs in Umuahia after Otti and his deputy, Ikechuckwu Emetu, were sworn in by Abia State Chief Judge, Justice Lillian Abai.
However, the singer’s actions prompted his fans to question why he chose to give a free show to the Abians despite being an A-list artist. Some speculated that he received enough money for the show before going on stage.

In response to the reports, Davido stated on Twitter that he has known the Abia governor his entire life and believes he will do the right thing for his people.
He also stated that he was not compensated for his efforts.
“Not a dime,” he tweets. I’ve known his excellency my entire life, and I am confident that he will do well for the people of Abia state.”
