The statements made by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde that he pledged to keep President Bola Tinubu’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in check in the 2027 elections have been called a flagrant fraud by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
Speaking at a media conference on Monday, Wike claimed that President Tinubu had never made such a pledge during a meeting.
Makinde reportedly made fun of Wike during a recent news conference in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, by saying that people should be free to select who they will support politically.
He clarified that Wike cannot force others to make political decisions.
Makinde claims that he was in a meeting with President Tinubu, Wike, and a few other people when the former governor of Rivers State announced that he will run the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Tinubu in 2027.
The governor of Oyo State stated that he was astonished by Wike’s remarks and that he (Makinde) will not participate in such plans.
Wike, however, has refuted these assertions.
Makinde has never called him Wike in front of him, the FCT Minister continued.
