During the 2019 general elections, Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), asserted that a military general had ordered his murder.
Wike made this revelation on Thursday in an interview with Channels Television.
He said that Rotimi Amaechi, the Transportation Minister at the time, issued the order.
Additionally, Wike claimed that many opposition governors who now claim to be persecuted have not experienced the same level of threats that he had during his tenure in office.
“I was attempted to be killed by General Saham, the previous General Officer Commanding 6 Division.
He was promised a position as the next Chief of Staff by Amaechi.
“General Saham gave the order to shoot me. I declined to visit the NSA office after learning that he was currently there.
“As the current governor, General Saham gave the order for me to be shot. The Colonel was held for six months after refusing.
