The Africa Tourism and Creative Economy Expo (AFTCEE), which is set to take place in Abuja in November of this year, has received support from Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Iweala, who is scheduled to attend the gathering, urged African countries to take advantage of the chance the event presents to unlock their creative and cultural resources for faster trade and economic expansion.
Africa is incredibly rich in cultural and tourism opportunities, she wrote in a personally signed letter addressed to Mr. Chuks Akamadu, the CEO of Afrocultour, the event’s organizers, with the theme “Optimising Africa’s Comparative and Competitive Advantage for Accelerated Trade and Economic Growth.”
The WTO believes that services will be the future of trade, and that the creative economy and tourism have a key role to play. She emphasized the importance of utilizing these advantages to further integrate into regional and global supply chains.
