‘You Were Brought in Through the Backdoor’ – Tension as Shaibu, Omobayo Clash Over Edo Representation at Ex-Deputy Governors’ Forum
Philip Shaibu and Omobayo Godwins got into a heated argument on who should represent Edo State at the Fourth Annual National Conference of the Former Deputy Governors’ Forum.
The conflict reportedly started after Shaibu loudly objected to Omobayo’s introduction as the former deputy governor at the event in Abuja on Tuesday.
As Shaibu and Omobayo quarreled over who was authentic, the occasion momentarily deteriorated into mayhem, according to Channels Television.
Speaking after the event, Shaibu emphasized that Omobayo was brought in through the back door and that the introduction was inappropriate.
Shaibu claimed that the position was never empty and that his dismissal was unlawful due to a court ruling.
“He brought him in through the back door,” he stated.
In response, Omobayo emphasized that he had made an effort to maintain composure and called the altercation “almost a national disgrace.”
Omobayo stated that Shaibu, whom he still considered to be an older brother, should come to terms with the court case as a sad fact of life.
“I never made myself deputy governor,” he continued. The event is practically a national embarrassment.
Remember that in April 2024, Philip Shaibu, the deputy governor of Edo under Godwin Obaseki, was impeached and replaced by Omobayo Godwins.
Shaibu was later reinstated after a judge declared his impeachment to be illegal.
