Zulum Reaffirms Loyalty to APC, Dismisses Defection Speculations

Claims that Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno, intends to switch from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have been denied.

According to a widely shared social media post, Zulum and five other APC governors were putting the finishing touches on their plans to quit the party.

In a statement released on Sunday, Zulum responded by calling the claim “fictitious and mischievous” and pointing out that political critics had made it up.

The statement reads, “This is completely untrue and only exists in its sponsors’ imaginations.”

They are critics who haven’t significantly advanced Nigeria or Borno State’s development.

“It is a classic case of politically motivated, low-cost speculation intended only to divert our attention and incite needless political tension.”

The governor stated that his “loyalty to the APC remains firm” and that he is committed to Borno’s development.

The public and media outlets were urged by Zulum to only trust reliable and official sources of information.

“The good people of Borno and the public at large should ignore this falsehood,” I say. The noble mission of rebuilding and developing our beloved state is our top priority, so we don’t have time for cheap politics,” he continued.

“We are steadfast in our resolve to support Borno State under the auspices of the APC, our magnificent party.”
