18 passengers feared kidnapped in Oyo
At least 18 passengers on a commercial bus were reportedly abducted by gunmen along Eruwa-Igboora road yesterday evening.
The passengers were said to coming into Oyo State from Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, when the bus conveying them was ambushed and forced to stop by the hoodlums.
The incident was said to have happened at a spot very close to Opeki bridge between Eruwa and Igboora.
Although residents of the area could not ascertain the actual number of those in the bus, all the occupants were said to have been been whisked away by the gunmen.
Speaking to newsmen, a resident of Eruwa, Adeola David, said it was likely the passengers were not up to 18 as there are reports that they didn’t board the vehicle at a motorpark but as soole ( a popular Yoruba word for hailing vehicle at a place other than motorpark to save time and money).
He said, “The bus is still there between Eruwa and Igboora, very close to Opeki bridge. But nobody can say with certainty the number of passengers whisked away by the kidnappers.”
Ibarapaland has been in the news lately following the incessant attacks by suspected herdsmen.
Eruwa and Igboora are two of the seven communities constituting the Ibarapaland.
