Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum says he is determined to help the Super Falcons secure a place at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The nine-time African champions have failed to qualify for the last three editions of the Olympics.

Waldrum’s charges will continue their quest for a place in Paris 2024 when they take on fierce rivals, Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in the third round of the qualifiers.

The first leg will take place at the Stade de la Reunification, Douala on Friday.

The reverse fixture is slated for the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja next week Monday.

The American, who recently penned a new contract with the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, stated that it is important for his side to qualify for the Olympics after their long absence.

“The goal obviously is to qualify for the Olympics. We can’t look ahead of ourselves and say this is what we want to achieve at the Olympics, “Waldrum told the Super Falcons media team.

“Qualification is going to be the primary goal. Everyone knows we have a difficult set of matches coming up against Cameroon.

“The focus is now on the two matches. Cameroon stopped us from going to the Olympics a few years back, I think in 2012. The two countries know each other very well.

“They have lots of talents and are very dangerous, especially their counter-attacking style of play.

“But I really like our squad, I like the team chemistry. We are able to get all our players back in for these matches which are very important.

“So, if we can put together the performances like we did at the last World Cup, then I fancy our chances.

“We just need to build on what we did at the World Cup and even do better. The difficult part in all these matches is that the window of time in the international break does not allow for a lot of training time.

“We will have to use our experience at the World Cup to win these games because we have few days to train.”
