Bauchi State government has approved a contract worth N7.803 billion for the renovation and reconstruction of the Bauchi State House of Assembly complex to improve the working environment for the lawmakers and legislative personnel.
The Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Hon. Dallami Ahmad Kawule, disclosed this after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting presided over by Governor Bala Mohammed.
He said the renovation is aimed at bringing the Assembly complex up to standards to enhance legislative efficiency and provide a conducive atmosphere for the lawmakers and other officials.
“The council has ratified a memorandum for the renovation and reconstruction of the Bauchi State House of Assembly complex, an initiative championed by Governor Bala Mohammed to create a more conducive environment for members of the Assembly and the Assembly Commission,” Kawule stated.
He further outlined the key components of the project, which include renovation and reconstruction of the Assembly chamber, offices for Assembly directors, upgrade offices for the speaker and deputy speaker, construction of a dedicated office for the Assembly Commission among others.
The project will be completed in 18 months.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adamu Umar Sambo, has said the SEC has approved over N9 billion for the rehabilitation of Bauchi Specialist Hospital to improve healthcare services and ease patient hardship.
Sambo said Governor Mohammed is prioritising the health sector, ensuring that infrastructure and service delivery align with the expectations of the people.
The commissioner for information, Usman Shehu, said the projects were part of the governor’s broader vision for sustainable development, improved governance, and enhanced public service delivery in the state.
