Gunmen shoot Delta pastor, abduct six worshippers

Six worshippers have been abducted after some yet-to-be-identified gunmen invaded a church at Asagba Ogwashi in Delta State and shot a pastor.

TheNigerian Metro gathered on Sunday that the gunmen stormed the Elyon Paradise Ministry Church, Asagba Ogwashi, during the Friday vigil.

A source said the kidnapped six members of the church were said to have been rounded up and whisked away to an unknown destination.

“They shot the pastor, cut off his fingers and carried six members of the church away.

“The pastor was rushed to hospital where several medical personnel were battling for his survival.

“Till today (Sunday), the kidnappers have not called to demand a ranson for the release of the abducted victims since the incident occurred” the source said

The pastor, identified as Apostle Divine Omodia, was shot by the gunmen who were said to have also cut off two of his fingers.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, SP Bright Edafe, on Sunday, confirmed the incident.

He said, “Yes, it’s confirmed, the incident was reported on Saturday evening. There is a rescue team now in the bush on their trail.”
