African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Dele Momodu has made fun of Bode George, the former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for his tense relationship with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to reports, Dele Momdu responded to a video interview in which George criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in a post made under his 𝕏 handle.
George publicly criticized Atiku’s ongoing presidential campaign in the Yoruba interview, emphasizing that he is prioritizing his own goals over those of the party.
He responded, “I am referring to Atiku Abubakar,” when asked if he was referring to Nyesom Wike. He is adamant about leading the ADC in the presidential contest. Let him leave; it’s his problem. Isn’t it the reason he initially quit the PDP?
In response, Dele Momodu said that the former vice president had a right to run for president and asked Bode George to abandon his anti-Atiku beliefs.
The seasoned journalist went on to say that internal party strife brought on by Wike, whom Bode George had previously backed, was a factor in Atiku’s decision to quit the PDP.
“You know I love and respect you very much, Baba mi Sir. Please rid yourself of anti-ATIKU sentiments,” he wrote. He has the right to run, Sir, and you have the right to oppose him. ATIKU has never boasted about his aspirations to become a politician. Never.
“ATIKU joined the JONATHAN re-election campaign knowing that the PDP would fall under the oppressive control of NYESOM WIKE, whom you had previously backed. The day WIKE began insulting you while slapping you black and blue on TV, I cried. Sir, ATIKU has become more clairvoyant today. Democracy is about having the right to vote and the freedom to not vote.
Please, sir, let Atiku breathe.
