Ex-INEC Commissioner Okoye Confirms All Nigerian Polling Units Have Internet Access

Every polling station in Nigeria has internet connectivity, according to Festus Okoye, a former national commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC.

Okoye disclosed this information on Tuesday during a monitored interview on Trust TV.

He was addressing the national discussion surrounding the National Assembly’s revision to the Electoral Act, which President Bola Tinubu had approved.

“Power banks and other accessories are included with every INEC machine for the election,” he stated.

The information is stored in EC8A, which is snapped by the presiding officer once the polls are over and there is no network at that time. It broadcasts instantly as soon as it makes contact with the network.
Therefore, unless he receives a network, the Presiding Officer cannot reverse what he has entered. No, I believe that the entire network issue is pointless.

“In this nation, there isn’t a polling station without a network. Not one. Disregard all of these network connectivity-related issues. It’s really a weak excuse.

“The Commission held elections in various locations prior to the deployment of iReV and uploaded polling unit-level results through its result viewing portal.”
