A suspected renowned kidnapper who was terrorizing Auchi and its surroundings was slain by Nigerian Army 4 Brigade operatives in Benin City, Edo State.
During operation IGBO DANU 1, four kidnapped victims were reportedly rescued unharmed by 4 Brigade operatives of the 2 Division Nigerian Army.
This was revealed in a statement provided to reporters on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, by Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Benin City.
According to Anyanwu, the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) was involved in the operation.
He said that the four victims were saved in Warrake Forest in the State’s Owan East Local Government Area after the infamous kidnapper was neutralized.
He claims that on March 3, 2026, troops from Operation IGBO DANU 1 conducted a nighttime operation in Warake Forest, Auchi Local Government Area, in collaboration with members of the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and local vigilantes.
“During a night patrol, the troops reacted to gunshots heard in the jungle by pursuing them aggressively and using few weapons.
During the encounter, a renowned kidnapper who had been terrorizing Auchi and the surrounding area was neutralized by the valiant warriors.
He claimed that “the remaining criminals were forced to abandon their victims and flee into the bush due to the superior firepower of troops.”
He identified Stella Abbas, Tina Ododa, Razak Rashid, and Mutanibi Kalifa as the victims that were saved.
He stated that the victims were between the ages of 29, 27, 19, and 16 when they were saved unharmed and were reunited with their families.
Anyanwu listed N650,000 in cash, shoes, a power bank, and cell phones among the items seized from the neutralized kidnapper.
