Ogungbesan Threatens Legal Action Over Reports on Exit from Security Mint

Mr. Adesoji Ogungbesan, the former Acting Executive Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC), has threatened to take legal action against an online publication due to disclosures about the circumstances of his leaving.

Ogungbesan, who recently departed the government-owned security printing company, stated that he made the decision to openly address questions regarding his appointment, tenure, and departure in response to what he called false claims about his position there.

He said the document was meant to describe his experience in public service and give his version of events during his time at the organization in a statement titled “From Private to Public Sector and Back Again,” which he made accessible to press in Abuja.

He clarified that he left the private sector to join the company in February 2024 in order to support the security printing company’s continuing improvements.

He claims that members of the company’s management team and top Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) officials participated in a formal interview procedure for his hiring.

According to Ogungbesan, he was first appointed as General Manager overseeing Management Services before being promoted to Acting Executive Director, Corporate Services.

He said that soon after taking office, he carried out a diagnostic evaluation of the company and collaborated with the consulting firm PwC on an organizational study that was authorized by the board.

According to the former executive director, the evaluation process concentrated on enhancing administrative effectiveness across departments, implementing quantifiable performance measures, and fortifying operational procedures.

Ogungbesan listed a number of measures that he claimed were implemented during his time in office, including changes meant to enhance cost control, operational coordination, and internal process digitization.

Among the actions he emphasized were adjustments to work schedules and operational protocols, which he claimed greatly decreased overtime costs.

Additionally, he stated that the organization saved a significant amount of money by rationalizing data center licenses and that internal operations were more efficient thanks to the automation of performance management tools.

The implementation of Sage Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software throughout supply chain and finance operations, as well as modifications to some service delivery arrangements within the organization, were among the other efforts carried out during that time, he said.

In response to a story about a pest control contract at the company’s Lagos location, he said that fumigation and pest management services were covered by the approved contract for specific office and factory areas.

According to Ogungbesan, the deal was carried out within the organization’s permitted fiscal structure.

The former acting executive director added that he left his job in early February 2026 after receiving a direction from the acting managing director of the company.

According to him, the email revealed that the company was undergoing a management restructuring process.

He claims that the corporation subsequently accepted his resignation after it was filed.

Ogungbesan reaffirmed that he had served in line with established protocols during his tenure at the company and insisted that the board did not specifically ask for his departure.

When he thought back on his time in public service, he remarked that there were particular operational and administrative difficulties when moving from the private to the public sector.

He pointed out that in order to accomplish their goals, institutional reforms frequently need ongoing support and consistency.

Ogungbesan stated that he was grateful for the chance to work for the organization despite the circumstances surrounding his departure and that he hoped the initiatives implemented during his time there would lead to further advancements.

In addition, he expressed hope about the institution’s long-term prospects and sent his best wishes to former coworkers.

However, Ogungbesan said that he will take legal action in response to publications that he feels distorted his professional background. He claimed that this action was required to safeguard his reputation and make clear the details of his time at the company.
