Sokoto Ex-Governor Aminu Tambuwal Leaves PDP for ADC

Aminu Tambuwal, the former governor of Sokoto State, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Tambuwal, who presently serves as the Senate representative for Sokoto South, informed the PDP ward chairman in Tambuwal/Shinfiri ward of his choice in a letter dated March 11.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives explained his departure by pointing to the party’s ongoing internal strife and differences.

Early on Thursday morning, he said that he had officially enrolled with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing extensive consultations and careful thought.

“It has become more challenging for me to maintain my active engagement and dedication as a member due to the leadership disputes and conflicts within the party at various levels.

He stated, “Unfortunately, the ongoing conflicts have weakened the unity and direction that once defined the party.”

Tambuwal, however, thanked the PDP for providing him the opportunity to serve the nation in various roles.

He went on to say that his conviction that Nigeria requires “a stronger political platform built on integrity, accountability, inclusiveness, and a clear commitment to national development” was the driving force for his choice.
