FRSC Convicts 20 Drivers for Overloading and Speeding in Ogun

Twenty drivers in the state have been found guilty of various traffic infractions thanks to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State Command.

Her Worship, Chief Magistrate O.T. Odunsaya, presided over the Phase II of the FRSC Mobile Court, which was held at the Itori unit command and found the offenders guilty.

Odunsi Afolabi, the Corps Public Relations Officer, said in a news release on Friday that the criminals were charged and found guilty.

Twenty criminals were arraigned, found guilty, and released from custody during the procedures. There were 40 recorded offenses, 39 of which resulted in different fines, and none of them carried a jail sentence, he said.

According to Afolabi, the enforcement operation concentrated on safety infractions such speed limit devices, overloading, seatbelt and driver’s license violations, tires, vehicle licenses, number plate violations, general vehicle maintenance, and associated traffic offenses.

Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, the Sector Commander, stressed during the meeting that the drill is a crucial part of the command’s ongoing enforcement strategy.

In order to lower traffic accidents within the state’s operational corridors, Fasakin clarified that the mobile courts improve operational visibility and guarantee strict adherence to traffic laws.

He did, however, praise the exercise’s peaceful and orderly conduct, pointing out that it was backed by sufficient security from armed forces.

The commander emphasized that the measure serves as a deterrent to reckless driving and highlights its commitment to prosecuting those who endanger lives on Nigerian roads. He urged drivers to prioritize safe driving practices and ensure proper vehicle documentation to prevent avoidable injuries and fatalities.
